I’ve spent the past year watching and rewatching a lot of astronaut movies in the lead up to Project Hail Mary. Here are a few worth the watch 🧵

The Martian (2015) In the first of Andy Weir’s sci-fi novels adapted for the screen, Ridley Scott creates a realistic Mars, blending the scientific know-how of the book with high-stakes action and a bit of fun.

Sunshine (2007) Sunshine has all the dressings of a standard space adventure, but takes some unexpected twists and turns, making it feel like its own fresh take on the genre. I’ll watch a Danny Boyle directed and Alex Garland written film any day of the week.

It’s a real shame Calgary couldn’t get any 70mm IMAX screenings of Project Hail Mary. We have the 1.43:1 screen and projector at Cineplex Chinook, but need the studios to send the reels. #yyc
