OAU makes decisions like this and students think they’re the only ones affected. But nobody talks about the businesses that suffer immediately. This is Campus Market today barely 24 hours after students were asked to vacate.

@OlusegunJeffrey @boladsammy1 @StudentByNature 😂😂😂 Guy just prompt an AI and understand the meaning of IQ. IQ is not fixed over time, courses like physics have contents that reshapes your mental orientation, like you start to think high. Moreover, that's not even the only course ahead of medicine on the list.

@boladsammy1 @belpgdan @StudentByNature Nah. The question is how many of these people with "high IQ" actually study physics? Most people currently studying are not doing it because they have the intellect, but because they were not good enough to get their initial desired course.

@StudentByNature Gaslighting mf, So I just wasted my time explain the difference between IQ and academic intelligence. When it comes to IQ Med students should just sit and learn, don't try to do some tricky shit.

First, this ranking is not about which course is “harder” or “better.” It is about the average academic profile of students who gain admission into each course. “Average” is key here, it does not mean students in lower ranked courses are not intelligent. Here is the logic behind it: At the very top, courses like Medicine and Surgery, Law, Pharmacy, and Dentistry consistently attract the highest JAMB scores, post UTME scores, and overall competition. These programmes have very limited slots and extremely high cut-offs, so the average student admitted is already academically exceptional. It is a selection effect, not a superiority claim. Next are courses like Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. These are also highly competitive, especially in top universities, and tend to attract students who are strong in mathematics, physics, and analytical thinking. The entry barrier is still high, but slightly broader than the medical and law cluster. Courses like Architecture, Nursing, and Physiotherapy sit in the middle tier. They are competitive and selective, but the applicant pool is more varied, so the average admitted profile spreads out a bit more compared to the top cluster. Then you have Economics, Accounting, and Business Administration. These are popular courses with large applicant pools, but also larger intake sizes. Because of this, while there are extremely brilliant students in these fields, the average becomes more mixed due to volume. Further down are Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. In many Nigerian universities, these are often second choice or transfer destinations for students who initially aimed for Medicine or other top-tier courses. So again, this is about admission dynamics, not ability. Finally, English and Political Science. These are important and intellectually demanding disciplines, but generally have lower cut-off thresholds and wider access, which affects the average academic entry profile. Now, why some courses like Mathematics, Physics, and Civil Engineering (CVE) did not make the list: It is not because they are not intellectually demanding, in fact, Mathematics and Physics are among the most conceptually rigorous disciplines out there. The issue is admission dynamics and demand, not difficulty. These courses typically have lower competition and lower cut-off marks compared to Medicine, Law, or top engineering courses. Because fewer students actively compete for them, the average entry profile becomes more spread out. For Civil Engineering, while it is still a strong and respected course, in many schools, it does not attract the same level of competition as Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer related fields in recent years. Again, this affects the average intake, not the quality of individuals. This ranking reflects how selective each course is at the point of admission, not how intelligent the individuals in those courses are. It is not agenda or ragebait There are brilliant students in every single course. This is simply about the average entry profile shaped by competition, cut-off marks, and number of available slots, nothing more.

@OlusegunJeffrey @StudentByNature I don't think you read my previous quotes, that is like a complimentary. I'm saying a reasonable amount of students in that specific course are victims of first trial and are also capable of taking medicine, If they have the drive.

@belpgdan @StudentByNature As much as I agree that IQ doesn't equate to academic intelligence, your line of reasoning is flawed. Are you trying to say that Med. Students have less IQ because it takes them 3+ years to get that course. Or that they wouldn't get that 250 or more in the same situation?

@OlusegunJeffrey @StudentByNature All the med students I've seen gained admission after 3+ Jamb trials, or did pre-degree or took an intensive tutorial while reading about a whole year intensively ahead of the exam. Many Tech fellas would start just about two months ahead, aim for 250. If they fail? physics!!

@OlusegunJeffrey @StudentByNature In short, Academic intelligence is a measure of achievement and IQ is the potential capacity. There's no way you're placing Medicine first for IQ even in Nigeria, unless U stick to the term "Academic intelligence ".
