@DJSnM Thanks so much. Yes, I've encountered this too. A television show that contains archival clips is claimed in its entirety. Google hasn't put the effort in to segment each edit into it's own entity. This broken system is "just let them sort it out" and is rarely correct.

Hi Ben I too am a fan of your work, it's practically the gold standard for archival footage restoration, you should be proud. To be clear, you don't need to rip footage from the blu-ray to get matched by content ID, I have had video which pre-dated the documentary which found itself matched, and every time I've been able to get it cleared as a bad match. ContentID is specifically engineered to see similarities in video even if there's changes to the colour and framing, so footage from public sources gets matched regularly. I'm lucky enough to be able to challenge bad matches. Youtube provides this capability to media companies and there's very little incentive for them to exercise any nuance.

When I saw that professional filmmakers were going to remaster NASA's public domain footage from Apollo, I knew in the back of my mind that it would makes it hard for me to use anything that looked like that footage.

@DJSnM I've had my fair share of YT copyright strikes on apolloinrealtime.org, including a French TV station who claimed their historical Apollo coverage was copyrighted essentially blocking the entire mission pool feeds that originated from NASA. Ridiculous. It needs to be fixed.

@DJSnM If you want to use the original raw footage, the Apollo 11 film team generously donated the raw scans back to the National Archives. They have been made publicly available here: catalog.archives.gov/id/133360601

@csciria Yes, but it’s unclear what data will be made public and how quickly. It might have to be a recap rather than live event.

@BenFeist Ben, any plans for Artemis next year? I loved your Apollo 11 site and doing something for Artemis would be very cool.

The crew onboard the ISS commemorated the 25th anniversary of having people onboard with a radio communication. Click the link to listen. It was during the US government shutdown, so NASA has just released the mission data that includes the onboard event. issinrealtime.org/2025-11-02T10:…

Here's flight director Gerry Griffin in mission control responding to the actual #scetoaux moment from Apollo 12, 56 years ago today, when the spacecraft was struck by lightning. 🌩️⚡️ I synchronised the raw 16mm footage to the flight loops as part of preparation for the still unreleased "Apollo 12 in Real Time" site. @nasa @BenFeist #apolloinrealtime

@JayBigGuy10 Sometimes. The timing can be imperfect with the current transcription solution. Working on it.
