@PolitlcsUK Not an ounce of substance to the reply. Not a single idea between them. Just a Tory toff blowing hot air as usual. ‘So dense that light bends around him’ springs to mind.

@johnkonrad UK government and Starmer were absolutely correct in their assessment to not join in on an insane Israeli led assassination strike of another countries entire leadership. Now they’re crying that Iran is fighting back and want everyone else to help clean up their mess. No thanks.

I have a confession. I loved the UK. I’ve read every James Bond novel. Watched every film twice. I love their naval history, their deadpan humor, their novelists. Maybe it’s because I grew up poor, but my parents saved for years to take me to London when I was five. My mom’s family traces back to colonial Britain. I’ve been to Buckingham Palace. Met the royals. I even love their mediocre food. Bangers and mash, yum! And my grandfather, who navigated B-24s, kissed the ground when he landed back on British soil. I visited the spot. I kissed the ground too. And my dad, a fireman in the Bronx, hosted exchange fireman from Sheffield who filled our house with laughter and camaraderie that overshadowed the complaints from Irish Catholics at our church. 49 years of genuine love and respect. Not performance. Not anglophilia. Real. So it genuinely pains me to say this: I am struggling, right now, today, to give a single shit about them. I spent a week there this summer with my daughter trying to rekindle that appreciation in me. Mostly failed. UK friends, I’m not being rhetorical. I’m asking sincerely. Give me one reason. Not 1944. Not the Special Relationship as a concept. A reason for today. Give me one half a sh!t reason. Because I’m looking and I’m coming up with nothing.

@alexwickham It’s seems very clear that our first refusal to the US was based on not wanting the bases to be used in potential strikes to assassinate Iranian leadership. That was the question of legality. But against Iranian military assets who are firing on allies, it’s more than legitimate.

BREAKING: The UK has granted the US permission to use British bases for operations to strike Iranian missile depots. Keir Starmer says: “Iran is striking British interests and putting British people at huge risk. The only way to stop the threat is to destroy the missiles at source in their storage depots or the launchers which are used to fire the missiles. The United Staes has requested permission to use British bases for that specific and limited defensive purpose. We have taken the decision to accept this request, to prevent Iran firing missile across the region killing innocent civilians and putting British lives at risk. That is in accordance with international law and we are publishing a summary of our legal advice. We are not joining these strikes but we will continue our defensive actions in the region.”

@TheBarmyArmy It’s embarrassing for world cricket that they all seem shit scared of that dobber Tariq. If you saw him playing in your local league you wouldn’t look twice. It’s unbelievable that our ‘top class’ batsmen are treating him with this much respect.

@The_Forty_Four Whether you think either is a foul or not is almost irrelevant. The fact is that both incidents are almost identical and both were reviewed by VAR but they came to different conclusions. That shows a lack of consistency amongst the referees and how they are interpreting the rule.

@bengeorges88 @WarMonitor3 “You’re allowed to use my base but only when you don’t really need it” - so it’s not in fact a base at all. The “special relationship” has been exposed as a sham

@cricket_broken We (England) mentally prepared for which beaches we wanted to visit, which golf courses we wanted to play and which bars we wanted to drink in. A lot of thought and preparation went into that planning and by all accounts the lads had a fantastic holiday 🍻

It is clear that England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Australia 🇦🇺 mentally prepared for the Ashes for 2 years and forgot there was a T20 World Cup to follow.

@tds122 They’re all fucking gash apart from Curran. None of them look bothered in the slightest. McCullum sat there with his feet up. Don’t think they do any actual practice or coaching. Just turn up, shit all over the pitch and fuck off to the gold course afterwards. Wank.

@jod_insane Massive agree. Interesting that just before those balls an Afghan player tried to carry a drink to the middle but was turned away by the umpire. I wonder if that was the message being carried out there but it didn’t make it 🤷

The Afghanistan team made a big blunder man. 2 needed off 3 balls with a free hit and one wicket remaining they could have just taken a single. Why go for two when there was a risk of a run out and the match going to a Super Over? They could have trusted the last batsman he could’ve scored 1 off 2 balls.

@toecrushrzzz Shouldn’t have gone for the 2nd run. The single still guaranteed the super over. Then it was 1 required from 2 balls. Back the number 11 to get bat on ball and run. If he gets out, still a super over. If he scores then you win. Poor tactics from Afghanistan.

Afghanistan should have won in Rabada’a last over, should have easily won in the first super over!!! You can’t keep challenging your luck thrice even against a side like South Africa who have a torrid relation with luck historically!!! Opportunity grasped!!

@BBCNews It’s getting quite unsettling seeing Mason so compulsively obsessed with Starmer and Labour. He’s becoming more unhinged every day and he looks ill. The rest of them at least attempt to hide their bias beneath the veneer of legitimate journalism, albeit they are also failing.

@peterrhague How will he square this with his cutting wasteful spending policy considering loads of government and parliament staff have ended up WFH. They closed loads of offices and there literally isn’t enough space for them. He will purchase and open new offices for them? In London?

@RCB_HIvv3 Quite clear he changes the rhythm/speed of his run up from ball to ball. If his momentum is always going forward into the delivery he’s fine. But he often stops completely, then ‘delivers’ the ball which means he is throwing the ball, which is illegal. That is the issue.

Cameron green wasn’t the first to call out this chucker Usman Tariq. Tom Banton said “he's throwing” on live. Pollard did it too... list is long x.com/frankie46__/st…

@secondtierpod Couldn’t be any better example of Serious Foul Play - Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

@Boro Fantastic win. Important win. Majestic first half. Great grit and resilience when under pressure in the second half. Would have liked to have see us attack the second half the way we did the first half and put them to the sword. But anyway… 3 points.
