This is legitimately the best podcast conversation I’ve ever heard. @JonHaidt and @bariweiss discussing the ills sown by social media, especially Twitter & Facebook. How social media spawned self-silencing and “an epidemic of conformity.” How these platforms “democratized intimidation.” I lived through these developments, especially the Twitter realities, but it was still striking to hear it captured so elegantly. The conversation about the enabling of extreme views feels even more prescient, knowing that these social media trends have only worsened since Weiss and Heidt spoke. 10/10. Long but worth it.

@DavidKlion The thing that I can't bear about the term "anti-Stalinist Left" is that it doesn't address any of the Colonialism stuff, or their considerable contributions to fighting anything labled Anti-American. PR was like the flagship magazine of the "Anti Anti-American left"

Book research is a process where you draft a line like "Partisan Review, the literary magazine of the anti-Stalinist left" and feel like a phony so you take a few months to read old PR issues and the memoirs of everyone involved and then write the same exact line, but confidently
