It’s a “clear-the-fridge” kinda night, so I went full fusion: Black bean udon, tiger prawns, thyme, and baba ghanoush under black pepper. It kinda works!

Back “in the day,“ when we were working on plating ideas, we used a paper and pencil to draw out how we would plate the menu item, the placement of certain meal elements, etc. This Sunday planning on doing mini pot pies with some side dishes. What a change today in simply having AI show me what those plates might look like.

If I were to make a surf-and-turf “Japadog”, what toppings would you want to see on it? 🍤

@CaitlinKellyNYC I used to photograph concerts professionally, but publications paid peanuts. A Canada-wide magazine would use one shot, and I’d get a $50 cheque weeks later. 📸

@benjaminluk Wrote for them once. Pay was not good and I had to pay my then book agent 15% to even sell me to them. 🙄

We don’t talk enough about pro writing rates. It’s time you think about them. For articles, I bill $0.15/word. A 500-word advertorial is $75. I’m a screenwriter. If you hire me to write your idea, it’s $150/page. $25/page revisions. Buying a script? 2% of production budget.

When I was working on Sideways (which was adapted from a book), I asked the director, Alexander if the book were any good. "No it sucks. You don't adapt great books. You adapt shitty books that have an interesting premise, or a kernel of something that you can exploit and improve. Good books don't make good movies. You have to build a screenplay from the ground up. And nobody is gonna be mad at me for changing the details of a Rex Pickett novel. But God help you if you try to change 2 words in the Lord of the Rings." Brilliant dude.

Caitlin is a pro journalist, and I need you all to know rates like this exist in creative fields. You can absolutely make a living as an artist. ✍🏼
