I find it odd how for some reason, for the past 10+ years, people have become completely obsessed with the idea of playing football in their own defensive third, and how finding ways to build out from there is the sign of a progressive and attacking coach. Of course there are very impressive things here. But this entire passage of play involved using many players and the ball stayed in the defensive third for the vast majority of it… When did people stop assessing how managers and teams attack, the actual final 3rd being the first thing they looked at?

@Real1_balogun That's an over-simplistic view of it. The truth is that while the 1st XI is strong, the depth is not there for a club pursuing it's 1st year in European competition.

The club currently sitting 14th in the Premier League has 15 internationals. Fifteen. You may think it’s small matter, but it’s big deal. It means they have good players. Players worthy of being invited by their countries. It means they are underperforming too. When you have that amount of senior internationals and players worthy of international consideration, you should do better. And they don’t play for small countries. They’re playing for good football countries. Japan England Colombia Senegal Spain Wales Ivory Coast Norway France Morocco Nine of these 10 countries will be at the World Cup and most of those 15 players will be there.

The @FA Football Association wants to mandate that 1 in 4 football coaches come from a Black, Asian or other minority background. As the saying in football goes, this is utter woke nonsense.
