Only 5 mins in and already an unpunished elbow to the face and a push on Solanke in the penalty area. These refs hate Spurs.

Brentford fans - I need your help! Writing a piece on the Brentford/Fulham derby. Plan is to compare perceptions of it from different generations. If you're a Bees fan who went to the games in the 80s/90s - or know someone who did - please get in touch if up for contributing!

@ryzbfc And if he had shot and scored would you be asking why didn’t he throw himself at the ball to try and block it?

@benkemp_uk Feel like he had a lot of time there just to stand Awoniyi up. Quite a rash slide

@benkemp_uk @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF My assumption is he’s appealing as he thinks the ball is going to hit the arm and then not fall back to him, he sees the contact and assumes the players momentum will take the ball out, when the ball grazes, rather than hits full, he realises he’s still got a chance so shoots.

@WanchopePaulo @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF Why is the player appealing? It shouldn’t have affected him though (that’s probably a whole new debate about footballers today). Always played to the whistle back in my day!

@benkemp_uk @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF It’s whether the infringement has affected the play, if the player has the time to set himself and then misses that’s fine, but in yesterdays incident, he appeals before the shot, (btw I don’t think it should be a pen, but it was) so the argument is it affected him.

@WanchopePaulo @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF See I would argue he has the advantage because he’s retained possession and had a shot (regardless of where the incident happened). Can’t be bringing the play back just because they missed in my opinion.

@benkemp_uk @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF Clearly the greatest advantage is a goal, I think each incident is judged individually by the ref, in the instance above I would bring the play back and give the free kick, if however Marmoush misses, and then recovers the ball and then they don’t score, the passage has gone

@WanchopePaulo @AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF So is it only advantage if the player scores? What should happen if the incident happens 10 yards outside the box, Marmoush runs through 1 on 1 with keeper and hits post? Should it be pulled back for free kick or has the advantage been given in allowing him to shoot?

@AyWeWolves83 @HACKETTREF Playing advantage for a few seconds and then bringing it back if no advantage is gained has been around for years though. Wolves got one v Villa about 15 years ago when Jarvis got cleaned out, the ball fell to a wolves bloke, ref waited, when he missed the chance he gave the pen
