The responses to snark by the @EdinburghZoo in the comments are an absolute masterclass in how to do it. I can't praise them enough. Straight into the training slides. Well done.

5 - Freedom over autonomy: developers need to be able to innovate and choose the right tools but this should not lead to unlimited chaos. Platform teams need to be gardeners, not gatekeepers according to @maremarebell youtu.be/CwA8nY24jEw #PlatformCon

It’s really hard to think of a more perfect demonstration of sticky human behaviour than this whole 5-day-commute → WFH thing 🧵

Such an interesting panel yesterday with @bobbyllew, we learned that 15% of global electricity used - is for refining oil. Can you imagine the 🌎 benefit, if we didn’t have to waste so much energy to produce something to fuel a car - when we can just bipass the process? ⚡️☀️🌬

Both addictive and thought provoking, like all the best scifi. Highly recommended.

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable putting “Not all X” whatever the X is? Is there an X where it is reasonable to put “Not all X”? Because it seems as though this phrase is not allowed in common discourse any more.

@emjohn20 @mikecherry @hacks4pancakes I like this realist approach! What I'd add is that, coming from an app mgmt & DBA background, GCP gave me the most logical introduction to raw infrastructure of the 3. AWS & Azure have too many complicated (and in my view unnecessary) artifacts to be easy to learn IMO.

@PaulDJohnston @killerswan Maybe AWS is different, but I'm not sure Amazon are in a position to preach about market behaviour. Not that I'm saying Google is either!

@benmwalt @killerswan Maybe I'm just coming at this with my AWS eyes and mindset. It feels wrong to pay for the clustering and add the SLA. AWS almost certainly wouldn't pull this move with customers already on the service without very very good reason.

@anne_e_currie It seems to me that going public is the only way to avoid companies cashing in or misusing our identities. But I cant think of a way it could ever become politically acceptable to do so. Society would rather slide into 1984.

@anne_e_currie The key aspect of the Panopticon which makes it acceptable to the populace is the fact that the data is shared publicly. I dont see any moves, or even conversations about doing that in reality...
