It looks like the Debian Linux project will soon have a new Leader focused on having fewer "(cis)male" contributors to Debian Linux. Nominations are closed for the new Debian Project Leader... and the election period is underway. Voters have exactly 1 (one) candidate to choose from when they vote. That's right. The Debian Project is giving their members only one option. That person, Sruthi Chandran, describes herself as a "librarian turned Free Software enthusiast and Debian Developer from India". She is focused on what she calls the "skewed gender ratios within the Free Software community", saying, "how many times did we have a non-(cis)male candidate for [Debian Project Leader]?" Sruthi says that diversity should "come up for discussion in each and every aspect of the project," adding the goal is to have "more women (both cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people." Last time, someone parked on a small island in a parking lot, not blocking everyone completely, but forcing everyone else to accommodate him and carefully maneuver past his car. When I went into the shop and said, “Hey, you should make an announcement for that person,” I was told, “What’s the problem? Can’t you get past them?” It’s unbelievable that intelligent people can build something absolutely brilliant on the one hand, but then completely fail to grasp the most trivial and obvious things on the other. Crazy.... #Laravel

Created a script that mounts a Cloudflare R2 bucket as a Volume drive on my Mac. Now I can take my files everywhere I go. And on my Mac it just feels like a native drive of the machine. Uses rclone & macFUSE. Gist below for you to use 🧵

I released Laravel Debugbar 4.0! Check the release blog: fruitcake.nl/blog/laravel-d… This brings a lot of changes under the hood (like php-debugbar 3, no jquery, optimized loading) but also a lot of Laravel improvements (better Livewire/Inertia/Octane support) and more collectors!

What the heck is going on. Migrated off Vercel and am now serving Next.js myself on Railway >oop, unpached memory leak in Next.js >migrate off of API routes to an Elysia server running on Bun runtime >doesn't solve Next.js leak, but at least it's faster and overall memory usage is massively decreased >migrate Next.js to all static routes, ok seems to fix leak >at least the app is way faster now but this is a very annoying constraint >oop, our app crashed and one hour of downtime because of an unpached memory leak in Bun I completely get why people pay Vercel $350/mo to abstract this all away (which is what I was doing last week) With Vercel, I had issues, but no outages. No slowdown due to high memory. No constant monitoring for breaking. It just worked, for years, siphoning money out of me for an app that simply isn't monetized well enough to pay the cost. How did people deal with this before Claude Code? Just suffer?
