So we’re all collectively struggling to finish books now right? Inspired by the ‘media I’ve consumed’ trend. I will be sharing some of the best things I read here and there (mostly Substacks and other thoughtful pieces) Follow along below. 👇🏾 #Savingourselves

Everything aside… Dear fathers, please show up for your sons. “Hold them.Laugh with them. Be vulnerable with them. Teach them how to understand their feelings… Tell them you’re proud of them. Tell them they are enough. Tell them you love them.” Let’s end this nonsense.

If men can have multiple wives why can’t women have multiple husbands?

Cuz I'm black and I don't have the stances most feminists have. I'm seeking wholeness as a woman/mother/community member, not equality with men.

@TheFineFeminine Why womanist instead of feminist ?

Now that this case has reached conclusion: I am so enraged. This is exactly WHY women are not reported because the system is so rigged. Am sick and tired and sick and tired.
Bose@berabose_

People always ask why wome stay silent. Why we don’t report. Why we don’t go through the justice system. But if you really knew what it takes to go through it: The trauma. The doubt. The humiliation. The slow process. That’s why we stand with survivors always. #UnmuteTripleA

so instead of doing anything to support us or thinking how there is a system design error, they make you feel bad for simply existing and trying to access services like everyone else. Because they never thought of you in design even asking what everybody is asking feels too much.

@Roxelbenta Mumfashe mujye musoma mushaka kumva kurusha kuvuga. I am saying that the temperament of a women’s movement cannot be reduced to that. But if you want to argue a point I am not making ndagusezera hano.

Well well… funny you think that taking care of yourself, loving beauty and aesthetics gets reduced to “appealing to men.” You can be empowered and enjoy looking good, they are not mutually exclusive. It’s not about men, it’s about ME, as a woman.
Bose@berabose_

2. There is also an obsession with presenting empowerment in ways that still appeal to men. Beauty, aesthetics, behavior, image. Be pretty, be polished, be acceptable. Am like I can not believe I am with ‘powerful’ women obsessed with beauty this much.

She said ‘get a support system’ and the room clapped ( I see why) but the first support is your husband whom you share that family with. Kuki atazi guteka? Cg ngo ajyane abana kwishuri. she framed his role as just present but how he is that support? That is the bare minimum.
Bose@berabose_

A panelist talked about balance & how women lack community as mothers (Valid) but her solution? 2 maids, a day cook and a driver. I swear to GOD Not once did she mention her husband. That’s not an EMPOWERING input at all. That’s still patriarchy in rich households.

Women empowering spaces in Rwanda are deeply patriarchal… It’s in how they discuss and how they frame problems facing women. FOR EXAMPLE; They avoid at all cost ever to naming patriarchy and its functions as if the issue of funding gaps or access is NOT shaped by patriarchy.

Maybe it’s a class issue if empowerment is shaped by image and comfort instead of any structural change or collective actions centered on the poor. however all these women are so intelligent so not about tokenism But their approach to empowerment is male-centered and ignorant

all women’s march events were like that and it’s definitely only in Rwanda to attend or be in a room full of empowered women still centered on shallow takes on liberation. Not a single person even suggested READ. Event after event, I was asking… what are you actually saying?
