Let's just start over

Rehearsing for the innaguration, jets have been flying over Kampala… They’ve been particularly loud over my office. Conversation stoppers because you can’t even hear yourself think… In the moments of silence.. when I couldn’t talk… I reflected. These were our patriotic airmen from the UPDF- AF. Our defenders! The noise lasted a few seconds. Then it was back to business. In some countries, that would be the sound of attack aircraft. Dropping bombs.. Day in. Day out. For hours on end. In those moments, I appreciate what we have. Uganda is a peaceful country. And in today’s world, that’s a privilege.

An abandoned dog in Bolivia got adopted by Franciscan monks. This once-stray pup is now lovingly called Friar Bigotón, Spanish for “Brother Whiskers”.
