NEWS: Saint Mary’s is expected to promote associate head coach Mickey McConnell to head coach following Randy Bennett's departure for Arizona State, sources told me and @PeteThamel. McConnell played for Bennett from 2007-11 and has been on the Gaels’ coaching staff since 2019.

Not so much for wins and losses, but for the way he carried himself, the way he treated people, the way he ran a clean program. And in the end, the way he sustained player losses, hit the portal and got back to work. A man I have great respect for. #GoBeavs
