I’ve been angel investing recently. A bunch of people ask why I’m even doing this when: 1.I barely have enough money myself 2.I’m trying to retire my mom 3.I’m still early in my career Here’s the truth: I don’t spend much. My mom has been taking fewer shifts, and I send money back home whenever I can. Whatever’s left, I use to write very small angel checks. Not because I’m trying to “build a portfolio.” Not because I’m chasing hype. But because I genuinely believe in extraordinary founders - and I want to put real skin in the game to support them. I’ll announce some of these soon, plus a long essay on why I backed them. I write tiny checks, but they’re my own money. (I will only scout for @parable_vc) Mostly consumer AI. Sometimes weird hardware. My personal category is simple: Either you come from a humble background… or you’re very f*cking smart. Ideally both. I only do ~8–10 checks a year. Usually first, or one of the first believers. My goal is simple: Support founders early. Actually help. Not just talk. I’m serious about angel investing. I don’t chase rounds. I don’t wait for social proof. If I believe in you, I commit. And when I back someone, I spend a lot of time: – hiring – GTM + distribution – intros to clients – intros to VCs – tactical feedback whenever you need it. I will pick up your phone call If you’re building in consumer AI, I’d love to jam. GPT-5-Pro thought for 17 minutes, then produced a brand-new proof improving the known bound from 1/L to 1.5/L. Verified by Bubeck himself. This wasn’t online. It wasn’t memorized. It was new mathematics. Humans later pushed it to 1.75/L, but GPT-5 independently advanced the frontier first. An AI just contributed research-level math. We’re officially in the era where AI isn’t just learning math it’s creating it.
