Finally got a chance to listen to this on my afternoon walk and it is such a good episode! Dr @bess_sch’s PhD research on constructions and maintenance of white femininity in netball in Australia is so important to further understand the game’s cultural significance 🏐

The perspective this experience gave me as a adult is a blessing & has shaped so many of my beliefs. I cannot imagine how exhausting it must be for woman trying to “fit” into the mould every time they take the court. Anyway - amazing piece of work haha

Nothing casual about being a casual! #RMIT says giving casuals paid sick leave and equal super is an anomaly in the sector, but it’s not. Our #NTEU USyd comrades won paid sick leave for casuals! #RMITStrike #UnionStrong ✊💪🪧

Well done, @bess_sch. More research on netball and netballers is required. A massively under-represented sport in terms of social science academic work.

Great presentation by @bess_sch on the archetypal 🇦🇺 netballer which limits social change - critically under represented research agenda - fantastic to see academic research devoted to netball!! @iwss2023 @RMIT
