Dominick Reid was pretty awesome tonight as only a couple of balls even left the infield. He pitched six scoreless frames and struck out four. He threw a total of 75 pitches and got eight groundouts and four fly balls. No one got past first base all night.

As you can see, the Hickory feed is not very good. But Dom Reid was amazing tonight. He went five innings on 71 pitches, 49 of them were for strikes. He did not allow a run and only allowed one hit while striking out six. In May he’s made two starts with a 0.9 0 ERA and 12 K

Pierce Coppola made his season debut with Myrtle Beach tonight: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K A big lefty with big upside who leans mainly on his low-to-mid 90s fastball and sweeping slider.

Mason McGwire looked pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good tonight. He sat 94 and went four innings. He gave up just one hit with no walks and struck out five. It was mostly fastball and changeup tonight.

David Bracho dominated out of the pen tonight: 4.0 IP | 2 H | 0 R | 0 BB | 8 K Fastball worked 92-94 and he mixed in his secondaries extremely well off of it. Generated a ton of swing-and-miss.

Jackson Brockett has been sharp in his first few professional outings. 3 Single-A bullpen appearances: 7.2 IP | 0.00 ERA | 1.04 WHIP 10 K | 5 BB | .125 BAA Go-to pitch is the changeup with good arm action, depth, and arm-side run.

Cubs 2025 3rd-round pick Dominick Reid made his professional debut tonight. Final line: 4.0 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 5 K | 0 R His fastball showed good life, and his secondaries looked solid, led by a 60-grade changeup.

Cubs 2025 4th rounder Kaleb Wing threw a scoreless frame in the Spring Breakout game tonight. Fastball sat ~94 mph with 19”+ iVB, paired with a nasty changeup. Also mixed in a CU, FC, and SL.

Really excited to spend the upcoming season with this staff. Have heard a lot of great things about the newcomers. Never a dull moment with Marty in the clubhouse and learned a lot about baseball (and other things) from Marty and Tony last year.
