@johnfgately @MikeMinogueABMD @CarnevaleMHD @massgop Every candidate was approached by the MA GOP to support the party this way. They ALL had an equal opportunity. I would have done exactly what MINOGUE did. It shows that he sees a win win opportunity and takes action. That's my kind of Governor.

5/5 The convention is a big deal. The convention winner (who, like me, becomes the official @massgop endorsed candidate) almost always goes on to win the primary. The only time the convention winner lost the primary was in 1990 when Bill Weld won the primary after losing at the convention. He also won the general election to become Governor. These guys have fought for year or even longer to have the honor to take on @MassGovernor and bring back common sense to governing. If I could change only one thing in MA politics - it would be the date of the primary. Having a September primary is basically an Incumbent Protection Plan. Instead of a convention in April we should have a March primary and then the nominee would have eight months to run in a general election. But that’s not what we have. Good luck to all three. See you boys at the convention.

1/5 We’re only SIX DAYS away from the @massgop Republican Convention - Saturday, April 25, 2026. After winning the U.S. Senate Republican Primary - by 65% - in 2024 - and securing over 1.3M votes in the general election - including outperforming President Trump by 140K votes - and doing it as a first-time candidate with zero name recognition - the @massgop voted to endorse me on November 20th, 2025. Although I believe I earned it - I am very grateful not to have a primary opponent. The main reason is that - in MA - the September Primary is just too late. When you consider early mail-in voting, you only have 6 weeks to transition from the primary to the general election. Up until September, you spend all your time trying to win the primary, and once you do, you just don’t have much time to take on an incumbent - who usually doesn’t have to face a primary challenger (eg, Elizabeth Warren last year and Governor Healey this year). I have an advantage this year because while I don’t face a primary opponent - @SenMarkey does. And while he and @sethmoulton try to out-far-left each other - I’ll be taking a common sense platform to the 64% registered Independent voters in MA. It’s one reason we finally have a chance to win a Senate seat in MA. In the Governor’s race we have THREE very capable Republican candidates in @MikeMinogueABMD, @ShortsleeveMA, and @MikeKennealy. Each one, would be an amazing improvement over @maura_healey. The problem, of course, is a contested primary race all the way to September disadvantages whoever comes out the victor. When I ran agaisnt @ewarren it was a non-convention year. Thus, this is my first Convention. I’ll be the first candidate to speak at the convention and I plan on setting the tone - not just for the day - but for the entire election. I’ll livestream some of it. The 3 gubernatorial candidates are working their butts off to win over voters. Personally, I’d love to see ALL three working in government to help make MA competitive again. At a recent event - all 3 gubernatorial candidates were present, answering questions from voters. I caught up with them asking how they felt going into the convention. See the video clips in 🧵 👇

2/5 Based on what I’ve seen and heard, I think it’s fair to say @MikeMinogueABMD appears to be the front runner heading into the convention. But until the votes are cast, no one knows for sure. Minogue’s resume is impressive. West Point Graduate. Airborne/Army Ranger School. Combat veteran. Bronze Star recipient! CEO of a multibillion dollar publicly traded company. Philanthropist. I like watching Minogue nerd-out when he pulls out the world’s smallest heart-pump that he helped develop as CEO of Abiomed as he talks about saving people’s lives. As a candidate myself, I respect that Minogue has taken the Reagan approach of not talking bad about fellow Republicans and has run a positive campaign, thus far. Some people disagree and say politics is a blood sport and that going negative works. 🤷 Call me a ***** if you want, I like the positive approach. x.com/deatonforsenat…

@ShortsleeveMA @johnfgately Shortsleeve's divisive rhetoric will not bring in the cross over vote. It will only cause a bigger divide. He can't win against Healey.

@ShortsleeveMA @johnfgately 1. There was no admission of wrongdoing in this settlement. So therefore Minogue did not lie. Get your facts straight. 2. The whistleblower who had been previously terminated by this company received over $500,000 as a result of the settlement. Wonder if he had mixed motives?

@ShortsleeveMA @johnfgately Charged and alleged are different things, Brian….surprised you didn’t know that. Mike ran an incredible business that saved lives. Pretty crazy thing to attack someone for. I mean do you really want to start comparing resumes with Mike?

@MikeMinogueABMD All I know is the heart pump just saved the life of a friend's husband recently. She and her family were very grateful for the opportunity to have this heart pump. I'm sure the hundreds thousands who have been helped are grateful too.

@johnfgately @MikeKennealy @MikeMinogueABMD @ShortsleeveMA Respectfully, the repeated attempts to spin the voters into a frenzy (about who participates in debates/who doesn't) isn't working. The primary isn't until Sept and isn't even on the average voter's radar yet. After the convention & we know who's still in, then we'll care.

.@MikeKennealy blasting @MikeMinogueABMD for skipping 11th debate/forum of campaign in New Bedford April 15th. Debate is 3pm, @ShortsleeveMA also confirmed, but not Minogue, even tho he's hosting a Meet&Greet the next town over that same evening, he won't debate. #mapoli

@WDWakeman @JoshuaBorden18 The website was cumbersome to navigate as well. Every town should have received a list from ma gop to confirm their delegates were accounted for and properly entered into the system.

@JoshuaBorden18 The rules can be suspended by the chair, for just this reason. 70 people shouldn’t be muscled out because one person failed a clerical test. These folks are properly registered Republican voters. That is the important metric. Let’s grow the party.

Delegate challenges like this one are a bad business. 70 people are elbowed out of the party, and for what? The needle won’t move. This kind of insider squabbling serves no one, except for a weird group that finds meaning in state committee politics, not real elections.

Last night Exec Cmte of @massgop on tie vote, declined to approve a motion to approve elected convention delegates from Plymouth, where I live. There was a deadline to enter delegate info into database, which was missed. A further appeal may be filed.

@JohnBriare @johnfgately @massgop MA GOP should have provided a list to very town and city after information was entered to ensure it was all in there. And we should be able to see who registered already. We asked proactively for this information but should be part of system.

@johnfgately @massgop Plymouth should file a further appeal. The system did not allow a review of total entries after entered as well. To double check accuracy or who was entered. Honest Delegates should not be penalized for cumbersome systems and processes. That is not what our party represents.

@samanthajgross This is great. Shows that Minogue is the front runner not only in Republican party but also in the entire race. Hit piece is only when your scared. I'm sure the people whose lives have been saved are grateful. I personally know family members of people saved by this device.

Mike Minogue has pitched himself as political outsider who voters can trust to run the state like his business, Abiomed. But Abiomed faced dozens of FDA warnings, kickback allegations, and litigation after patients who had an Abiomed heart pump had died. bostonglobe.com/2026/03/26/met…
