It really frustrates me when i see people saying we should sell Balde because of Cancelo's level. Some of you are honestly immune to squad depth, because why can’t we have both Cancelo and Balde? That would be elite left-back depth. Also don't forget that Cancelo is 31 and will soon be 32, so if we keep him, it’s realistically a short-term solution, maybe one to three seasons at most before his level naturally declines. That means the club would still eventually need to plan for the future in that position. So the ideal situation isn’t choosing one over the other, it’s using Cancelo as the immediate top-level option while still investing in Balde as the long-term project for the position

If I try to break down Flick’s logic behind the players he didn’t rotate: with Pedri, both he and the coach have said he feels better when he plays consistently rather than having long breaks, so the idea was probably to start him and then take him off early. Lamine likely made it clear he’s physically fine and doesn’t need rest as it's always reported he never wants to get rested. As for Eric and Fermín, they only played 45 minutes against Atlético, so from Flick’s point of view, that load isn’t enough to justify resting them. Because of that, the players he chose to rest were Olmo, Cancelo, Koundé, Lewandowski, and Rashford. It does make some sense, but i still would've preferred more rotation.

Respect to the 10 who played the second half, 10 real men who gave everything on the pitch. Even a man down, we were the better side, created more, and conceded just one real chance. But that’s UCL football, games are decided by the smallest details. Now we’re in a tough situation, needing to overturn a two-goal deficit away from home, in one of the hardest stadiums in Europe. But nothing is impossible in football. We have the quality as unrealistic as it looks we need to believe and fight until the very end.
