going through the 5 stages of grief with Genshin’s release of Snezhnaya (currently in DENIAL), can’t believe it’s coming in only weeks the last time I felt this strongly with a long running series was when Ash (finally) won the Championship with Pikachu in Pokemon…

I started playing Genshin since ver 1.1, and the Snezhnaya livestream is making me feel so so SO many things… never dreamed I would see this day back in 2020

@rinnieum I would even say the professional career and hobbyist artist spaces on social media are extremely overlapped now... it's often difficult to tell which artists are drawing full time (and who isn't) online rn 🤣

@bethogrape that sounds like a lot of work, for the hobbyist space, that is. It also sounds like the professional illustrator circle crossing over casual artist spaces. I admit, it's not a bad thing per se. It just /feels/ like everyone is overperforming?? idk 😅

I rmb there was a trend of using gradient maps for final toning on illustrations in the late 2010s (copy character layer > grayscale> gradient map> lower opacity/ set to overlay mode), wonder if it still holds up in 2026...

another extremely easy to use variation is to point the index finger out depending on the hand angle (and where the finger is pointing to), it can easily 'look' like a new pose across drawings muahahHA

I love this hand pose so much, it works well on so many different scenarios 🤣

when buying the HSR cards, I had an interesting convo with the shop keeper that went like this- me: WOW u drew this? shop keeper: NAH the artist is too much of a 宅男 (otaku male)... he didn't come to the venue, so we're helping him sell his merch both of us laughed hard 🤣

@rinnieum FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABT- anyways YEAH I feel like it's still a solid technique in the digital art toolbox... a LOT of anime art tips I see nowadays r abt making eye catching (dynamic+ high-contrast art) tho, instead of harmonious color palettes
