if tech bros can understand mutual aid via form of stack overflow they should in theory also be able to understand mutual aid networks for local communities

that being said, how does one launch themselves back into ~academic networking~ mode? What’s new in HCI? How are PhD students doing, and faculty adjusting, when studying targeted key-word topics (i.e marginalized or gender)? Cold emailing still work?

interesting take and impactful to me given I just entered 2025 w/ another first name pub pre-PhD making it my second But I am succeeding because of a program intentionally made for working class and first-gen immigrants to get into academia so

so many thoughts in my head with no (academic?) outlet to let it out through.. do i wanna make a substack? Will i keep up with online yapping?

Just turned 26 and did some personal birthday trivia on my instagram then did data analysis on it for fun… my friend said “you will love being a PhD student more than anyone else I know”

Talked to my therapist about internalized lesbophobia growing up and it led to the question: what are the differences between how people signal and perceive social cues in offline vs online queer spaces?

i.e, how does one who holds different marginalized or privileged identities assess what to disclose about themselves in digital spaces? what are their cognitive processes in assessing this?

yes I want my PhD but what do I want to study? Hell if I know I have a gajillion questions I could ask (a new question about digital footprint anxieties just came to mind)

@davidthewid as I look ahead, in general I feel like grad apps appreciate having a more or less strong idea of what you want to study no? Ideally I’d want to ask all and any questions in depth but I feel this pressure to figure out what I want before I’d apply

@bfadrigon14 on the "what [field] would I study?" i'd refuse to pick one and ask questions that sound interesting sequentially and trust that consistent themes will emerge :)
