Buffalo’s Paul Hollie started his reporting career in Buffalo but has gone on to be a mover and shaker in public relations in Seattle working for Premera Blue Cross. Paul now is a leader in social equity programs in the Seattle area. Paul worked at WEBR Radio and WKBW News.

Doug Ruffin launched his professional career in 2004 working in various Buffalo television stations working in front of and behind the camera. Ruffin owns Urban Legacy Filmworks and has been inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.

Buffalo native Beverly Armstrong made her mark at WKBW, WNED and WGRZ. She made history as part of the first duo African-American anchor team with Les Trent at Channel 2 in 1980. Armstrong launched her career in front of the camera at Channel 7 as host of “Public Affairs’.

One of Buffalo’s renown Black broadcasters is Jimmy Lyons -he lit up the dial with “The Lyons Den” on WXRA and WWOL in the 50’s -60’s. Lyons became public service director and DJ at WUFO. He is considered Buffalo’s first Black radio announcer following a singing career.

Celebrating Black History Month with Sandy White. Sandy started out working at WKBW but moved up the ranks reporting for WIVB and then to Los Angeles at KNBC. She was recently honored for her work as Executive Producer and Director of the documentary ‘Leroi: Living in Color” .

Alex Llewellyn descended into the Eyewitness News room from national business royalty - the daughter of J.Bruce Llewellyn, known as one of the wealthiest, most successful Black men in America. Alex went on to marry famous author, Tom Clancy and now runs "Love,Alex".

Looking at the history of WBLK for Black History month. The urban music station signed on the air on December 10, 1964. The station was founded by legendary Buffalo DJ George “Hound Dog” Lorenz who was known for promoting Rhythm and Blues on local AM stations.
