@acemarke Anyways the way to do this is by focusing on the explorer and then start typing a little widget will pop up with the text you are typing you can hover over the text and enable filter on type and it will behave like you described.

Does VS Code really not have a good way to search for some set of files by name? Like, say I want to find all files that have the word "client" in their name, and come up with a results list. The Search box searches file _contents_, and I can't see any relevant extensions.
