The film "Sleep" was one of Warhol’s first experiments with filmmaking. The film, which lasts five hours and twenty-one minutes, consists of looped footage of John Giorno sleeping. Giorno, an American poet and performance artist, was Warhol’s boyfriend at the time. For the film, Warhol shot about three hours of footage but used only around thirty minutes of it.
