🆘 Brighton fans… 👀🇵🇹 I’ve received so many messages asking for my opinion on Costinha and whether he can really help the team at right-back. So here’s my take… ✍️ First of all, we’re talking about a player who joined Olympiacos F.C. in 2024 and made 74 appearances in all competitions within two years. That’s a huge number. Practically never injured. 💪 Secondly, he played seven Champions League matches and nine Europa League games. Useful player, reliable presence. 🌍 Was he a guaranteed starter in Greece? Not really at first, because José Luis Mendilibar mainly used Rodinei at right-back. But Costinha’s performances in 2026 were so solid that Rodinei moved further forward on the wing, while the Portuguese defender became the starting RB. 📈 Now… if you had asked me before these rumours appeared whether I could see him at Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., I’d probably have said no. Technically, he’s not an exceptional player. He finishes his Olympiacos career with one goal and four assists in two years. ⚽ BUT… defensively? Excellent. 🔒 Hard-working, aggressive in duels, very good 1v1 defender, disciplined marker and rarely loses control emotionally. Just eight yellow cards and one red card during his Olympiacos spell. 👏 Do I know if he’s fully ready for Premier League level? Not sure. But one thing is certain: he’ll give absolutely everything every single week. 💙🤍 Can he consistently be a 6/10 player? Yes. Can he occasionally give you more? Absolutely. Will he sometimes struggle? Of course.
