This is a government that holds price hikes like a loaded gun; fires it before elections in small doses, then empties the magazine after. Poor people aren’t collateral damage for them. It freezes retail prices. It absorbs the shock at the top; not dumps it at the bottom. India? India made the poorest people in the country the shock absorbers for a global crisis. And the PM, fresh from a CM-level meeting on March 27 where he thumped his chest about “energy security”, let April 1st happen without flinching. Because there are 5 states voting and they still need your vote. After May 4th, they won’t even bother with the chest thumping. The West Asia crisis is real. The energy security was always fake.
