Both my summer puffin trips to Machias Island were cancelled due to wind and fog 🥺 But I saw so many little puffins splashing in the Bay of Fundy yesterday (and, of course, Old Thom the Orca), so that made up for it 🥹

@stace_smith94 The fog is sitting on the water but the suns out on land (it always feels magical to me when you see the island break out of the fog and the sun is out)

@bhmorse Yes, me too! It’s a tad foggy on the water right now. Hoping it’ll clear up the closer we get. I’ll be on Wood Island most of the next week 😎

This drift bottle was recently found near Boston. Researchers discovered that the bottle was one of five, released more than sixty years ago off the western side of Machias Seal Island!

Some personal news: after 8 wonderful years, 5 of them hosting Info AMSaint John, it’s time for me to leave CBC and start something new. I’m looking forward to more freedom to work on my own projects, including writing & teaching. My final day will be this Friday, June 21.
