Fun fact: Ever wondered why it's called The Iliad? Because Ilium was another name for Troy, and the -ad suffix was used to mean "The Story of." This means that, if you translated the title, The Iliad should actually be called Troy Story.

Mothers Day The Romans celebrated Mothers day and called it Hilaria and dedicated it to Cybele, a mother goddess. The offerings were made on the Ides of March in the temple of Cybele. This included games and parades that lasted up to 3 days.

Born today 76AD Emperor Hadrian. He re-built the Pantheon and constructed the Temple of Venus and Roma, and is perhaps best known for building Hadrian's Wall, which marked the northern limit of Roman Britain. He is regarded as one of the Five Good Emperors.
