Even if you don’t cycle yourself, you will still get the advantages of other people cycling: better-designed streets for walking and public transport. Better pavements, better squares, and clearly you get less traffic ultimately. HT @stratageeb1

@RyanRozy1 @fietsprofessor @urbanthoughts11 No one said everyone had to ride or that riding suited everyone. But if we make it safer & easier for those willing to ride to do so, that reduces the traffic around those who still need to drive. Supporting more than just 1 transit choice benefits drivers too.

@fietsprofessor @urbanthoughts11 Great theory but I'm not sure how bikes will do for construction, electrical, or plumbers. Or any job that requires you to work hard. This is great for guys who sit at a desk and don't have much of a physical job. Or your Starbucks batista.

Train ridership in the Netherlands has doubled over the past two decades. This has been achieved not by increasing station coverage, but by increasing station access through targeted investments in cycling infrastructure, secure parking and shared bikes. peopleforbikes.org/news/utrecht-c…

Getting ALL the facts in relation to bike infrastructure & diverse transport infra generally, makes it clear it is not a favour to cyclists but a benefit to all transport modes & to a community's physical & economic health.

Many cycling projects don't get funded because politicians think costs are too high, or contribution to the economy negligible. But what if we get the numbers right, and show the value of the benefits created? #Bikenomics helps get cycling on the agenda. youtube.com/watch?v=54XQp7…

Cargo bikes & cargo e-bikes have the capacity to greatly decongest our city streets while also making them cleaner & quieter. Replacing trucks with fast, efficient, clean bikes for city centre deliveries is a change that benefits everyone!

While van-choked cities struggle to decarbonize logistics, México City’s freight cyclists deploy a simple solution to sitting in traffic. More a product of economic reality than innovative policy, they remind us of the potential to scale up existing enterprises and technologies.

“Paris trained its bike lane-building muscles during the Covid pandemic. The city estimates now there are half a million bike trips in Paris every day, making 11% of the city’s total, against around 5% in 2019.” It isn’t The Games. It’s the leadership. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
