@romanhelmetguy You either aren’t familiar with the difference between the words ‘shameless’ and ‘shameful,’ or you don’t care that all three translations have exact same meaning & instead are sensitive that that one doesn’t call Helen a whore, which is weird, unloved, weak of mind & character!

@romanhelmetguy All three assert the Achaean’s bloodlust, “headlong,” “hearts intent upon,” “minds fixated,” assert the Achaean’s as the actor, “launching,” “went beneath,” “made my face,” assert that Helen felt responsible, “for my sake,” “for the sake of shameless me,” “my face the cause.”

Emily Wilson completely changed the meaning of a key word in the Odyssey to make it seem like Helen of Troy didn't blame herself for starting the Trojan War, when in fact the text makes it clear that she did. In 4.145-146, Helen calls herself κυνώπιδος (dog-faced). This is an insult meaning "shameless." It is commonly used to refer to unfaithful lovers. For example, it is used elsewhere in the Odyssey (8.319) to refer to Aphrodite after she cheats on Hephaestus with Ares. Fagles translates 4.145-146 to: "all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake, shameless whore that I was.” Lattimore translates 4.145-146 to: "for the sake of shameless me, the Achaians went beneath Troy, their hearts intent upon reckless warfare." Wilson completely changes the meaning of κυνώπιδος to "hounded" (she is trying to be cute by translating 'dog-faced' to a word that still relates to dogs, even though its actual meaning is completely unrelated). She then applies this word to the Achaeans, saying that they were hounded, not Helen. Her translation is in the image below. This is obviously an ideological change that she made because she personally believes Helen shouldn't be blamed for the Trojan War. She deliberated distorted the meaning of one of the foundational texts of Western literature to conform with her modern beliefs.

@lukestanley03 You should respect that Klopp would’ve had similar trophy haul as Pep if they didn’t overlap. Those point totals are absurd that Klopp got 2nd with.

This is an incredibly impressive haul of trophies, and I am not discrediting it at all. Salah and Robertson are both legends of Liverpool and the Premier League, but this picture compared to that of Bernardo/Stones just shows how utterly insane Pep Guardiola’s time at City has been.

@zlatka420lmao @Entity__4 @vxunderground I wasn’t moving goal posts, I was trying to inform you from the goodness of my heart that AI was misleading you & that you were posting Trump content. I think Riot is evil, not justifying them at all. You can be wrong if you want, just no AI and no Trump, please.

@zlatka420lmao @Entity__4 @vxunderground I appreciate you trying! Using your own brain is much better than using AI. Still, this section doesn’t apply to Riot’s actions, at all. (Btw, the sc you posted is Donald Trump’s current DOJ interpretive guidelines of the section, not the law itself, are you Trumpy? Ew!)

@zlatka420lmao @Entity__4 @vxunderground If you aren’t just joking, you should really re-consider your AI usage. This code section that AI provided to you is not relevant or applicable here by any means, in any way. Not even close. If you’re gonna trust AI slop to guide you, you should at least use Claude.

@jtaylor1906 You are not an LFC fan if you care more about hating Slot’s performances than do about Andy Robertson mourning a best mate who won us every trophy. You simply aren’t, you’re just a social media narrative gossip girl. You’d fit in at Arsenal. Cheers loser.

@JusticeWhizzer @SplenceJice @ferald_gord Roe absolutely should’ve come up with something better than privacy. 100%. I do think Brown’s jump that separate cannot inherently be equal is based on social science as opposed to being rooted in the text of the Constitution, which is where RBG got the idea for expanding 4th DP

@bifferbop @SplenceJice @ferald_gord Okay, I see what you mean: Maybe. I do think Brown is quite a bit “sturdier” due to it being rooted in the text of the Constitution via the EPC. Roe’s fatal flaw was its reliance on privacy imo. Although I do agree with your broader point that “Roe is bad logic” is a cop out.

@JusticeWhizzer @SplenceJice @ferald_gord And I think that was RBG’s point. The rights protected by substantive due process should exist and be protected. As separate isn’t equal. All reason and social science says as much. Roe was supposed to be unassailable as Brown. That they lacked precedent was the issue to solve!

@JusticeWhizzer @SplenceJice @ferald_gord Give Dobbs another read with this in mind: could its critique of Roe, under current SCOTUS atmosphere, also be used by same insidious people to dismantle Brown? I think there’s enough cause for concern there.

@SplenceJice @ferald_gord RBG wanted Roe to be as unassailable as Brown. Rightfully so. She didn’t expect that even good-hearted law students would fall for conservative catchphrases. Their same “critiques” of Roe’s reasoning could, and maybe one day will, dismantle Brown too.

@SplenceJice @ferald_gord Common catchphrase for law students to say “Roe is bad legal reasoning.” In truth, Roe relied on reasoning similar to Brown v. Board, and a substantive due process right should have safeguarded progressive liberties for decades, as did Brown. But the catchphrase won over fools.

These movies appeal to a conservative sensibility, but they are not as politically rightwing as The Dark Knight Rises. In TDKR, the bad guys are inequality-obsessed leftists who seize power and initiate Reign of Terror style revolutionary justice against Gotham's upper class. Then it's revealed they are secretly Middle East terrorists! Ultimately, Batman—an aristocratic vigilante—joins with an army of police officers in a glorious counter-revolution against the terrorists. I'm actually surprised that the film (which I love, to be clear) isn't reviled by liberal Hollywood as fascist propaganda. Maybe everybody missed that it's quite reactionary...
HabitatFun@HabitatFun

@robbysoave It's not the most right wing studio film of all time, come on. Master and Commander? No Country for Old Men? The Best Years of Our Lives? Death Wish? How about the Bible epics from the 50s, like The Ten Commandments?
