@big_dom71 @NotFarLeftAtAll What? There's only one key in a Travelodge mate 🤣
English

Was going to take my wife away for a couple of days ..
The price of the hotel wasn’t to bad until I noticed it was £12 a night to park ( at the Hotel ) and £16 each to have use of pool not to mention £14 each for breakfast… is this the new normal now.
Hotel room £168 for 2 nights (reasonable)
Parking £24 to park
Breakfast £64
Total £256 (not so reasonable)
English

@Originsingamer @NotFarLeftAtAll But you never know who else they might let into your room
English

@NotFarLeftAtAll Just stay at a travel lodge in a nice area, they let you park for free

@TWBFarms @crepycidon @jemmm85517813 Because it won't make a change to cost, but potentially ruin lots of cars. The forecourts would need new tanks and pumps to make that a reality. Never going to happen. E85 gives 25% less range, E15 offers no benefit over E10. Extra choice = extra cost as volume decreases.
English

@big_dom71 @crepycidon @jemmm85517813 what’s wrong with having the choice ? I would love to see e5 /e10 /e15 and even e85 at the pumps - you then use what’s appropriate or economically most attractive
i wouldn’t put diesel in my petrol car !
English

Time for a solution ?
Switching UK petrol from E10 to E15 would use about 1.8 million tonnes of UK wheat, already sat in UK stores right now.
That’s around 660 million litres of ethanol, roughly equal to 2.7 million barrels of oil. Farmers could deliver this in months, not years, no strait of Hormuz to navigate.
Energy policy is overlooking a ready-made domestic solution.
And the best bit? This is a fully sustainable solution that would boost GDP and give a desperately needed immediate shot in the arm for British farmers 👍#EnergySecurity #Farming #Biofuels #UK #GDP #BritishFarming

@TWBFarms @crepycidon @jemmm85517813 But that simply isn't true. As per my reply, most cars are not flex fuel compatible. Very few cars can run on e85. My BMW is 4 yrs old, it would require remapping and a different fuel pump, and a few other parts, expensive and doesn't solve anything.
English

@big_dom71 @crepycidon @jemmm85517813 i’m not advocating e85. I’m suggesting e10 is increased to e15 - google suggests 90% of petrol cars on uk roads can safely run on that
I’m not suggesting e5 is scrapped either so choice remains
if middle east issues persist your other choice might be walking !
English

@GarethNotGarth I had one as an Uber in France last year, quite a nice place to sit, nearly Germanic quality, with French design. A massive upgrade over the Tesla we had taken earlier in the night, that felt like is was put together by toddlers.
English

@TWBFarms @crepycidon @jemmm85517813 An extremely small % of cars currently on UK roads can run on E85 petrol. E85 requires a "Flex-Fuel Vehicle" (FFV) designed to handle high ethanol concentrations. While E10 (10% ethanol) is standard, E85 is not widely available, and using in non-compatible cars can cause damage.
English

According to google 90% of petrol cars on UK roads can safely use E15.
So it is true to say there are some that can’t …….. but they can’t use the existing e10 fuel either
i wouldn’t recommend it in a lawnmower either just as i wouldn’t advocate using diesel in a petrol engine ! but where suitable (the vast majority of cars) it is a immediate solution.
English

@d1lak @ListerLawrence @AutoPap I believe the idea of the grant is to move people into electric cars. As the unions did a great job of destroying UK car production, options appear limited in the sub 40k bracket for anything made here you might want to own.
English

This time last year I was picking up my Renault 5. I sold it 6 months ago because someone offered me what I’d paid and I felt that was a good deal. Now there is an extra 3750 off from the gov grant, should I get another? @autopap need not reply.

English

@SawyerMerritt @Tesla I've only been a passenger in Uber Teslas. That was more than enough to not look any further. Build quality is absolutely shocking. I get the technology works for some, the charging network is the USP, but the packaging is terrible. I wouldn't swap a BMW for one.
English

BMW X5 owner says he's selling his car to buy a 2026 @Tesla Model Y after driving an EV and FSD for the first time:
"Couple of months ago my friend got a Tesla Model Y 2026 and recently went overseas for 3 weeks, so he let me use it.
I had never driven an electric car before and always thought about range anxiety. But man, this was an eye opening experience. After about a week, I stopped worrying about range completely. I’d just come home, plug it in, and every morning it was fully charged.
After driving with FSD and one pedal driving, I can’t go back to my car anymore. My friend came back from his trip and took the car last Friday, and now I can’t stand driving my gas car. Everything feels obsolete and stupid, like I’m driving a 30 year old car with no tech. I actually get mad at it now, and it’s only been 3 days. I’ve never felt like this about my car before.
After 3 weeks, I went from “I love my car” to “this is old shit.” Looks like I can’t tolerate any other cars anymore.
I’m going to sell my X5 and get a Black Model Y Long Range."

English

@ListerLawrence @AutoPap Why the hell is the govt giving grants on French product? How fucking stupid are we 😐
English

@AlinaKrylovaaa You are only 6ft. I'll still be taller, even when you are in your heals.
English

@FedUpYorkshire @jhnstncpst I have no time for Starmer or Labour, but most of your comments happened under the last government. Personally I think he has done a great job dealing with Trump in the past few months. There's always things with each government we won't like.
English

Nothing I said is untrue. Starmer is a dithering, disingenuous little toad who hasn't acted in the best interests of the great British public since he won the GE. Just ask the farmers, students, WASPI women, pensioners & women in general since he doesn't seem to know what one is. Our taxes & energy bills have gone through the roof after he promised they'd go down. He's either a liar or an incompetent tool regarding Mandelson, 'his' Labour are trying to bring in blasphemy laws by the back door, clamping down on free speech & don't even get me started on how he's behaved re the rape gangs & survivors. So pardon me for saying so, but you can take your 'Starmer's doing what a PM should' drivel & poke it right up your arse. He's nothing more than a snake oil salesman who shouldn't be anywhere near any positions of power, imo.
English

@Kearney3Mr Even funnier as logged on your My Waitrose card. Be interesting to see what offers you might get now 😂
English

@whybelgiumsucks @RupertLowe10 Its not though. VED is based on the perceived dirtyness of the vehicle. Road tax based on use would be fairer in some ways (impossible to implement) and disproportionate in many others.
English

@big_dom71 @RupertLowe10 Road tax, VED, all the same. Most countries base their 'road tax' on the basis of emissions. Just needs to be abolished after all.
English

A Restore Britain Government would back British drivers. How?
Raise the speed limit on motorways to 80mph.
Remove all 20mph zones, other than those outside schools or areas with vulnerable individuals.
Our current 70 mph speed limit was implemented decades ago, for a completely different type of car with completely different capabilities - far lower safety standards, poorer braking, and less advanced handling.
It is unnecessarily slow, plenty of other countries sensibly allow for more.
80mph is faster and fair, and Restore Britain would do the unthinkable - trust people to get on with their lives without such overbearing state interference.
It boosts business, backs drivers and gets Britain moving.
Support Restore Britain to make it 80.
English

@TOHEEBADEWALE14 @RupertLowe10 I travel in Europe where the speed limits are higher, being doing that for nearly 40 years. Seems to work fine for them. France do have a rule where there's a lower limit if its heavily raining, which makes a lot of sense.
English

@RupertLowe10 United Kingdom roads are already among the safest in Europe the question is whether higher speed actually improves anything beyond convenience.
English

@TheMercianNews @RupertLowe10 We could teach people to cross the road? It was done when I was younger, idiots now just walk out without looking. Darwin award candidates.
English

@whybelgiumsucks @RupertLowe10 Road tax was abolished in 1937. You pay (VED) vehicle emissions duty. General taxation funds all road repairs. I agree that the tax burden requires lowering.
English

@RupertLowe10 Also remove the half £ + 20% VAT on fuel. It's criminal as you already have to pay for road tax too, especially since the roads are filled with potholes.
The British government has severely limited the freedom of its people by taxing over 50% at the pump.
English

@Willie131547089 @bambibristol What are you talking about? The article is about retiring in Spain. The rules have changed dramatically on how much you need in the bank, getting residency as freedom of movement has gone.
English

@bambibristol Nothing to do with Brexit
If you apply for a passport with six months left on it the issue date is the date you need to use to travel
English

@Elizabe13014545 Its £1.2 million per week, not litres. Pay at pump is in selected garages, they could roll out further, but thats an issue with the 'cash' brigade. When I travel in France, most are pay at pump, or in supermarkets you queue to pay at a kiosk with a barrier. Overall, small number.
English

@rocklist_net @HannasWorldUK17 Once converted, slightly dearer than the Shell example, cheaper than BP.
English

@HannasWorldUK17 If the UK price makes you scream, this is the price I paid in France this week 😱
