So I’m seated beside a Chinese national in a sauna, guy looked like he was in his late 40s or 50s. We exchanged pleasantries, he asked where I was from, I said Nigeria. Blank stare. Man had never heard the word before. I tried explaining, western part of Africa but still nothing, didn’t ring a bell at all. Then he was genuinely shocked at how well I spoke English. Asked if it was something we were taught back home. I told him English is actually our national language, we just also have local dialects. His English wasn’t the strongest, but we managed. I threw in some Chinese I knew, ni hao, ni hao ma, zaijian and then started naming Chinese cities. Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai… reeled off about seven of them. Bro was genuinely shocked. The funniest part was watching him pull out his phone and try to search for the country. Had to correct him real quick, Nigeria, not Niger. Two very different places. By the end of the conversation, I’d successfully sold him on visiting whenever he decides to tour the African continent. But it really makes you think, there are so many people out there who honestly know very little about Africa. Like, an entire continent with 54 countries and over a billion people, and some folks have never even heard the name of one of its most populous nations. The world is a lot more disconnected than we assume.

It's nature that forced her hands. A female can give birth to up to 40 tiny, rice-sized joeys, but she only has four nipples, so most do not survive. The joeys that are not among the first four to reach and attach to a nipple in the pouch die, and the mother will consume their bodies.

@ToolzO Luku… very very good painter back in the days, but has a madness only God can cure. You can give him a job to paint a building, he would stop midway with the excuse of going for lunch. From the break, next time you would see him will be in two weeks, his tools left at your place

Nigeria has taught me that the most talented artisans are actually mad. This guy's work is impeccable, but almost everytime we work together I have to tell him I'm on the way to burn down his workshop before he finally delivers. Our toxic relationship is almost 10 years old now. ❤️
