Bungie is really investing a lot in the Cryo Archive map. I genuinely think it will be good but will it move the needle in a meaningful way? Like grow the Marathon audience? It feels like this thing needs to be GTA 6 levels to be the W that Bungie needs right now. We’ll see 🤷🏼♂️

@PaulTassi @Forbes Let’s be accurate most of the player loss has been from steam. There is still a substantial amount of players on console playing the game. One could say there are more console players playing D2 then marathon, or any other extraction shooter game. It is dead maybe, but not yet.

@Aztecross As someone that’s their livelihood has been to play and support a product I am sure it’s hard for you to accept the reality that D2 is no longer your cash cow. Extraction shooters are such a niche format and won’t have the same longevity that destiny did so I wish you the best.

As someone who has covered Destiny for over a decade, D2 concluded in Final Shape. Not to say that EoF or Renegades don’t have lore importance, but it’s not Light and Darkness Saga. The next real saga should be told in a D3.

Exactly. People think people are just randomly hating on Marathon to fail, no. It’s coming from people who played Bungie games like Destiny before & have been proven time & again that Bungie doesn’t care about delivering what you want. They killed Destiny 2 effectively for this. So no it’s not some random “hurrrr I hate Marathon cause it’s cool” no. They gave up on the people who brought them success. Undervalued, under delivered & abused their good will for too long. So people walked away. Anything else is cope & they know it. Marathon is failing because of Bungie being Bungie. That’s all it is.

@PaulTassi @Forbes I would say the free time in the game helps the pve player figure out quickly it’s not their type of genre without forking out $40. And in the other side the PvP style player will enjoy the experience. That makes the server slam productive just not profitable.

@Marathon_Track @destinytrack 1/5 the game is just not fun, the graphics don’t pop like other games and quite frankly reminds me of minecraft with gun play. Thankful for the free play to confirm not a game for me.

We noted yesterday that TWIDs will be more focused on community activations / in-game calendar for a bit.
During our somewhat quiet time, are there any activities you’d like to see challenges for? Dungeon runs and Raid challenges are always fun, but would love to hear from you.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’ll repeat what I said years ago: Destiny 3 remains the only real hope for the franchise. Especially now. We know it. They know it. My honest prediction? I think we hear about “Destiny 3” news within 2-5 years.

Bungie pretending the Destiny 2 delay had nothing to do with Marathon's release date was a plot twist I didn't expect. It feels almost insulting to not acknowledge. They don't want to anger the D2 community by making us feel like we come 2nd but that's where we are and it's wild
