At least she waited with me while I waited for my ride and a few days later we met for coffee to go over my severance.

I'll never forget when I got laid off from Grenfell Campus. I was totally blindsided. Went to a team meeting then got called into HR. "Restructuring" they called it. Three managers laid off.
I was literally escorted to my office to get my coat and perp-walked out the door.
