Yesterday was clearly a bad day for booking BSL interpreters. 2 Deaf friends, 2 medical appointments with no interpreter. For 1 of them this was the 3rd time! Different hospitals in 2 different counties. Whoever has this contract is literally taking the piss. @NHSEngland 1/3

@foreverbsl @NHSEngland …3/3 and felt it was set up to fail the Deaf community already as some contractors are great at covering all bases but not actually great at the deliverables as stated in their agreement.

@foreverbsl @NHSEngland @NHSEngland to be aware- this isn’t an isolated issue, I know of three contracts have been changed to new agencies who only provide virtual bookings only. Patients had to challenge this to get the f2f bookings by using the AIS. It’s clear the procurement teams need…1/2

Found. But @FrimleyHealth this needs to be transparent to patients- who is the person to contact during out of hours for this? A patient has been trying to get communication in place and she’s palliative & exhausted all her options before reaching out to the community for help.
