Former Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, delaying efforts to meet the conditions of his GH¢55 million bail.
According to the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, attempts to secure Mr Jumah’s release are ongoing but have been slowed due to his current medical condition.
Mr Jumah was granted police enquiry bail on April 29 by the Economic and Organised Crime Office, but has yet to satisfy the requirements.
His arrest followed a raid on his Kumasi residence as part of ongoing investigations into alleged breaches of public financial management regulations during his tenure at GIHOC.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific allegations and EOCO is yet to provide further updates on the case as the former CEO continues to receive treatment.

“ More Police Officers Needed To Meet Growing Population ”- IGP. Christian Tetteh Yohuno
The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called for urgent strategic interventions to strengthen personnel and infrastructure within the Ghana Police Service to meet growing security demands.
Speaking at the commissioning of a new Divisional Police Headquarters at Laasi in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, he revealed that the area’s policing capacity remains inadequate.
With a population of 314,859 and only 260 officers, the jurisdiction has a ratio of about one officer to 1,200 residents far below the United Nations recommended standard of one officer to 500 people.
Despite relatively low levels of violent crime, which he attributed to effective policing strategies and community collaboration, the IGP warned that increasingly sophisticated criminal activities require modernised approaches.
He stressed the need for advanced equipment, improved infrastructure and operational reforms to enhance law enforcement efficiency across the country.

“ Ghana’s Energy Sector Not Only Meets Demand But Also Exports Power ”- Energy Minister
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has said that the country is not only meeting its domestic electricity demand but is also exporting power to neighbouring countries including Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Togo.
He described the current energy situation as stable, noting that ongoing efforts are focused on strengthening infrastructure through a nationwide transformer installation programme.
According to him, over 2,500 transformers being installed are newly procured and not inherited, addressing what he called misinformation.
Mr. Jinapor added that the initiative is being carried out under the leadership of President John Mahama and Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson to improve power supply across the country.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Koforidua, he announced that a nationwide timetable for transformer replacement and upgrades will be released in the coming weeks. He revealed that 140 transformers have already been installed, with 300 more set to be deployed soon to enhance electricity reliability.
The minister assured that government remains committed to preventing a return to persistent power outages, popularly known as “dumsor.”
