this is the most ridiculous & sexist thing Melinda Tankard said. why is it a problem if female characters are hot?? why does that offend feminists?? i was just talking w/ my girls in our gc abt her comments & we broke down why they're so gross: ~ she called female heroines "pornified" just because they're hot or have big boobs. that pissed me off the most. calling a woman "pornified" just for having curves is disgustingly sexist. so what, she's attractive, & that makes her porn now?? what the fuck are u trying to say? ~ humans are sexual beings. recognizing beauty isn't "toxic." it's literally biology. ~ games are fantasy. devs can design whatever they want. attractive characters don't cancel out average ones. ~ her "surgically enhanced breasts" comment is straight up sexist. not all women w/ big boobs have implants. & her definition of "large" is twisted. she thinks Halo 4's Cortana has big boobs, when her proportions are pretty average. it's pure jealousy + body-shaming. ~ clothes depend on context. tight gear makes sense in action/sci-fi. some characters wear armor, some wear attitude. both are valid. Lara Croft didn't ask for permission to exist. characters wear what fits their world, not ur outrage. ~ not all games are for "boys." M-rated games are for adults. her take makes the whole gaming audience sound like toddlers. ~ strong women can be sexy. & sexy is subjective. why shame girls who embrace both? ~ she erases female agency. lots of us choose to be powerful & beautiful. that's not exploitation. it's what we want. ~ she insults male gamers too. acting like they only care abt boobs is reductive & unfair. ~ she ignores genre + world-building. diff games = diff vibes. her criticism flattens all creative nuance. ~ she's ignoring female gamers. she's erasing us. millions of girls play as + love strong, hot leads. her view is outdated & deliberate. feminists like her always love to "speak for us" but leave us out every time. this is just the tired "male gaze" narrative getting weaponized again to shame men for appreciating beauty. it's envy. pure jealousy. & it's not just about men. it's also a way to get back at women whose existence makes them feel inferior. it's done out of spite. the feminist mindset's always the same: "if I'm not having fun, no one else should be allowed to." but beauty isn't the problem, their resentment is. we're not here to dim ourselves so they can feel brighter.
