Last week,@DLCI_Kenya , together with partners @NLC_Kenya , @acted_kenya and the Ministry of Lands conducted community land registration sensitization meetings in Lorengippi, Nakurio, and Loduat in Lokiriama/Lorengippi Ward, Turkana County.
Community members were taken through:
· The community land registration process
· The importance of forming the Community Land Management Committee
· The role of community institutions in land governance
· The benefits of land registration, including conflict reduction, land use planning, and community decision-making
· The importance of inclusive leadership with representation of women and youth
This process is part of a broader effort to strengthen community land governance and reduce land-related conflicts in the Turkana–West Pokot border areas.
Community land registration is not just about land ownership; it is about governance, identity, planning, and the future of pastoralist communities.

The future of drylands development is not with those who used to lead, but with those who lead today—women and youth: the real drivers of innovation, accountability, and inclusive growth.

@DLCI_Kenya is participating in the “Building Resilience and Prosperity of Pastoralists and Dryland Communities” forum hosted by @IGAD_CPALD , @SPARC_Ideas , and @jameel_observ
Our CEO, Dr. @JMokku, is moderating a session on “Rethinking Early and Anticipatory Actions to Better Manage Shocks and Risks in Drylands.”
This discussion takes pastoralists and their livelihoods as the starting point, ensuring that early action and interventions are tailored to the unique needs and contexts of drylands.
We have our Board Chair, Dr. @GuyoMalichaRob1 , among the distinguished panelists, alongside experts from the @jameel_observ , @MercyCorpsKe , ILC, and @SoDMA_Somalia .
Together, we are shaping more responsive and inclusive resilience strategies for pastoralist communities.

Today, we join the world in marking the International Day of Peace under the theme “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All.”
In Kenya’s drylands and across borderlands, peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the foundation for resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and community prosperity. At @DLCI_Kenya, we believe that lasting peace grows when communities, governments, and partners come together with dignity, humility, and trust at the center of every action.
Let us recommit to building bridges, resolving tensions, and amplifying the voices of women and youth who are leading peace-building at the grassroots.
