The Oscars are notoriously alternatively squeamish and dismissive of Horror & SciFi. Silence Of The Lambs is the only Horror film to win Best Picture. SciFi is mostly relegated to Visual Effects, Set Design & Makeup.

@GLTQAX @vurnt22 Interesting point. Despite its star-power & subsequent cultural status, The Shining received zero Oscar nominations.

@SVG__Collection @IPhillips79 While she suffered from migraines, Tammy was not ill or diagnosed until late 1967. That was long after this recording. They recorded separate versions which were later turned into a duet.

Fun Fact: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell was recorded in separate sessions because Tammi was already ill — their legendary chemistry was created entirely in the studio.

MUSIC INDUSTRY PRO TIP – Your response time can be your reputation. I've watched people lose real opportunities because they took 3 days to reply. In a relationship-driven industry, sometimes how fast you respond can signal how seriously you take someone.

@BrianZisook There are some artists who release nothing but songs under 2 minutes because in streaming it’s worth the same as a longer song, and that is just dumb from an artistic perspective.

The backlash against sub-3-minute songs ignores history. The average hit in the 1950s was 2:36! Vinyl kept songs short for two decades before FM radio stretched them out. Streaming incentives are compressing them again. Format has always shaped the music.

@BrianZisook Likewise! The printed word online lasts a long, long time so why not make submissions to blogs (like mine😁) for potential free publicity?

During the blog era, artists & managers routinely reached out to platforms directly. Real relationships were built. Then streaming took over, & artists handed that job to labels & distros. For most acts, that approach doesn’t work. Happy to see more artists retake control.

@chartdata To not post the information suggests to me that you are in fact very aligned with Billboard, something I have suspected for years.
