@TamarYoseloff’s sonnet to #AnaMendieta ends on such a strong last line - here’s the build to that: …Blood sister, you bloom in flame, sprout feathers and fly, incite a riot of blossom. Here you never die… (Image from @Tate) #NewBootsAndPantisocracies #ArtSonnetChain

Our 3rd poem is by @TamarYoseloff and is in memoriam #AnaMendieta. In terms of her life, death and work, it picks up the themes of the #ArtSonnetChain so far and restates them with equal lyrical grace & still-greater urgency: …wbootsandpantisocracies.wordpress.com/2026/03/21/art… #NewBootsAndPantisocracies

‘Touch not the veiled crab cabinet. Henry dared that sulky afternoon…’ Gorey meets Belloc? some would ask, in a cautious manner. Snip snap! others would reply, sharply. Diane Cockburn revisits the #GhostFurnitureCatalogue.
GhostFurnitureCatalogue@FurniturePoetry

Diane Cockburn’s short #FurniturePoem is not about short furniture, although the cabinet concerned certainly has a short temper: ghostfurniturecatalogue.wordpress.com/2026/03/15/dia… #GhostFurnitureCatalogue

Dad was a Leo, which combined with the ‘in like a lion’ proverb to set this #Tanka off the next, rainy, day: What is leonine about March rain? It’s sky’s mane; dryness is its prey; it unsheathes its claws from wind; its cloud-pride comes, then it falls. #SpringRenga (2/2)

The #SpringRenga continues as the anniversary of my father’s death (the Ides of March, of course) approaches, I spot him in Markie’s: In the mid-March caff, my father’s doppelgänger: hair, specs, bulk, and age. Given we’re near his death day again, why am I surprised? (1/2)

I admire #EvaHess’s emphasis here on resisting a notion of the perfect artistic statement by allowing the absurd in, not in some Absurdist capital A-type manner, but in a tricky-to-do, problematic-to-process, more vulnerable way, playing/not playing the (lower case) fool.
Bill Herbert@billherbert

I was very struck by #EvaHesse’s remark about her piece ‘Hang Up’: ‘It was the first time my idea of absurdity or extreme feeling came through… It is the most ridiculous structure that I ever made and that is why it is really good.’ artic.edu/artworks/71396… #ArtSonnetChain

Loved this list made manifesto from #KaddyBenyon’s sonnet about #EvaHesse: She wore her installations like a crown of bivalves, netted pomelos, glass-blown fishing floats caught in the drag tides of fear, of loss, of mockery… #ArtSonnetChain
NEU! Boots fur immer@NEUboots26

Our second sonnet is an elegant, subtle study by #KaddyBenyon of the work of #EvaHesse - a fascinating artist in terms of her seemingly unlikely uses of (then) unusual materials… …wbootsandpantisocracies.wordpress.com/2026/03/07/art… #ArtSonnetChain #NewBootsAndPantisocracies (1/2)

These days, Spring’s harbingers - more light, moments of actual warmth - no longer feel like uncomplicated positives: This returning sun feels each year more like someone back from a war zone. Our glad relief is tempered: how damaged, how damaging? #SpringRenga #Tanka (2/2)

This recent #Tanka must mean the #SpringRenga has already begun - ironically, I was scribbling rather than paying attention: Only dogs and bairns at Cullercoats’ cold noon venture out to sea - those who do not reckon in degree, duration, or depth. #LifelongRenga (1/2)

@ImogenForster2 It may well have been this very line from ‘Afternoon Sun’ that set me off on #FurniturePoetry: Θα βρίσκονται ακόμη τα καϋμένα πουθενά. (There’s something I don’t understand in the Greek in that ‘τα καημένα’ seems to be ‘the poor things’ but ‘τα καϋμένα’ is ‘the burnt things.)

Next on the micro-crawl is the Pictish fastness of the snug at the auld #StarAndGarter. Please don’t ask me what it’s currently called, I’m trying to cope wi the fact they took out the auld fixed tables… At least it’s still here. (No quite) #VirtualDundee

Exciting trip on Cyberbus 74C from Monifieth into the toun. (Nae clippie.) Lovely sunshine, plus the robot voice mangling ilka name that’s a bit too Dundonian for #CheapoFuturetimes. Favourite so far: ‘Rears’ for ‘Reres’ (should be ‘reeris’, a trochee). #InformationistDundee
