About a year ago, I decided to listen to everyone and take off the polarized glasses of the media that I was being fed. Admittedly, it has taken me to some extreme places, but there is SO much to be gained from gaining a more full scope of any and all of our challenges and issues when you read them all side by side, while also not immediately making a judgement based on ONE headline or even worse, a think piece on ONE headline or a comment by someone I already follow based on ONE headline. This all amidst the era of uncertainty and a rise of the data and psychological arms race intensified….it has been a rough road that made me rethink a lot of things, question everything including myself…I am not immune from this introspection. In all honesty, it has been really hard work wading through a lot of it as the amount of content being produced on all sides in a medium and platform explosion…it’s been a marathon and will continue to be just that. The biggest detriment to our society has been lack of information with the assumption that we aren’t strong and/or smart enough to make better judgements….we have to save ourselves and them we can learn to save each other.

@ericweinstein You mention the explanations of some of your forbears being poets of more heady concepts like algebra and the double helix. As someone who’s mind has always gravitated toward science, but having the heart of an artist, YOU sir are this type of poet in my opinion. Really inspiring episode….proceed without a tight grip to get the full effect.

Got up and out and shot photos at dawn at @EnoRiver I haven’t picked up my camera for me in some time. For all the many special interests I have obsessed over, this one has always been the constant, from my first black and white photos showcased in the hs show at the mall to saving me after quitting drinking seven years ago to two marketing jobs and a festival next month. I once side stepped my “medium of self-discovery” to “make people look cooler than they are” Not my words. Despite how “good” I thought I was getting, the focus and attention was always on someone else and while the praise felt good, it wasn’t ever saying much about me as an artist. I’m pretty ok at the types of pics that give others exposure, but I can name volumes of others that are worlds better. My point is that just when the medium was giving me glimpses of who I was without escaping my emotions with a different type is glass, I took a turn from what was showing me who I was by veering off to chase a cause thereby leaving myself at the starting line. Do I regret that choice? Absolutely not, it taught me some lessons and made me stick up for myself in ways that frankly I was never taught how to.
