I’m on SSDI and have been since I became disabled in 8/98. I have received EBT, food stamps, since then. I’m a healthy eater because I have to be careful, especially as I get older. However, if I decide that I’m in the mood for a slice of cake from the store bakery, or a Jones vanilla cream soda, WTF business is it of anyone else? It’s not as if my family doesn’t pay enough taxes to cover my occasional sweet tooth. How dare someone tell me what I can and cannot eat. I’ve already lost most of my “freedoms” to these illnesses. I’ve already lost the ability to make a lot of the decisions that I would have liked to have had more control over. Back off.

Should SNAP food stamps cover junk food like soda, candy, and cookies?

I worked and paid taxes for almost 50 years, our SS still leaves us under the poverty line so we qualify for a low of 22 a month that fluctuates upwards depending on our out of pocket medical. Prior to Bidenflation we were doing okay but we’re fast getting to the point where we won’t be able to garden and can. We have bees and make our own maple syrup. When we age out I don’t know what’s going to happen. There’s a lot of reasons why people qualify for SNAP and working is not an option for many of them. If I want to buy a pizza and a bag of chips on SNAPS who are you to tell me no?

Veterans, we generally become isolationists. Then you realize the people that you thought you were protecting, didn’t want you protecting them. So you come home and see a country you didn’t want to protect. So you isolate. That’s how it is. We exist in the world you wanted. 🇺🇸

I don’t like speaking in generalizations, so what I’m going to say is from MY experience ONLY. There is a reason I removed myself from the dating scene. Every serious relationship I have ever been in, I was cheated on, including when I was in Iraq. Today’s women view men as “good enough, until someone better comes along.” Someone with more money or social standing, and there’s ALWAYS someone better. I’m not mad or bitter about it, I just no longer wish to play a losing game in a rigged system. That’s my 2 cents, for whatever it’s worth.

@lancewallnau Yes, unfortunately, my son is my weakness. He takes great advantage of me, and my landlord helped last time (I can never ask him to leave). He does so much better away from me, and me too.

Had a rather sobering lesson recently. Annabelle and I have been helping someone for a few years. It’s now clear that our helping isn’t really helping them at all. The Lord said “there are times when it takes more strength to let go than to hold on.” Sometimes the merciful thing is to let someone experience the consequences of their bad decisions. Can anyone relate?

Government run healthcare is a crapshoot, at best. Ask any Veteran that uses the VA. I got lucky with mine. That being said, health insurance is the biggest scam ever. There has to be a solution, but I’m not sure what it is. Killing CEO’s probably isn’t it, though.

This has been the wildest year of my life. Everything happened so fast. Total solar eclipse. Northern Lights in Alabama. Cicada apocalypse. 2nd moon. President dropping out on a Saturday at the beach. So much more. Now, it feels like eternity just to get to Jan. 20.
