Hi folks. With a few exceptions I’ve been away from twitter for a year or so. Coming back because the national conversation on police reform is a dream come true. I have a few thoughts I would like to throw out there.

5) set up a # like 711 that people can call when a family member or someone else is having a mental health episode. Instead of police trained counselors & health care workers will come. The guy who passes out on my stairs needs help not people w/ guns.

4) this might not be practical but patrol & beat cops shouldn’t be allowed to carry weapons. They can’t be trusted. If there is some kind of a violent situations, like back robberies, a special unit w/ weapons should deal with it.

3) police officers should be required to carry some kind of malpractice insurance. If they shoot an unarmed black man their insurance should cover the payment to families. Bad cops will have enormous rates or might even not be able to get insurance any longer wherever they go.
