Ungrafted Savagnin. From pre phylloxera rootstocks (apparently these rootstock were spared due to the high altitude / attested by Dr. J. Vouillamoz) 2nd bottle from OWC. First one was had off the bat so to speak. This one sat in the cellar since release. It’s got an intoxicating nose. I pick up some saline/buttery notes like Bordier butter on a fresh petit pain. On the attack, it’s like an old school Montrachet with buttery yet strong mineralic (flint) notes underlined by a harmonious acidity. It’s a fleshy, “fatty” mouthfeel. Almost like the consistency of a perfect oyster exploding on the mid and back palate with a great saline aftertaste. Quite a wine 👊😎
