My favorite story from this year's group - Devin Haid at USF.
A 2017 graduate of Wooster High School (@Wooster_BBall), Haid didn't get an opportunity to play college hoops until 2022. He was stocking shelves at WalMart when he enrolled at Cuyahoga CC that fall.
4 years and teams later, and 9 years after graduating high school, he's playing in March Madness.

i will continue to address every attempt to take the gcw world championship from me until someone physically proves they can. when that day comes, the meaning of this reign will be much clearer than it is right now.
what i am doing with this championship is happening without the layers of protection that usually surround a world champion. i am not under contract. i am not guaranteed major paydays. there is no system in place to protect me if my body breaks down. if i get injured, the cost is mine alone. every booking, every match, every risk is taken without a safety net.
that is exactly why this matters in independent professional wrestling and why this championship should be represented by an independent wrestler.
this gcw world championship is being carried by someone who lives the full reality of the independent circuit. the miles. the physical damage. the financial instability. the absence of corporate structure. there are no long term guarantees. no built in rehabilitation. no guaranteed compensation. there is only performance and consequence.
to hold a world championship under those conditions and still expand its visibility and weight is not accidental. it is intentional. it is a choice to personally invest in the credibility of the championship instead of leaning on exposure from television or outside platforms.
when the world championship is eventually taken from me, it will not weaken what this reign represents. it will strengthen it. this era will not be remembered for comfort or protection. it will be remembered for the fact that the gcw world championship was carried at the highest level by someone with nothing shielding him.
