Women@Work (W@W) : AI Community @BTS2024 Unbound As the Industry Anchor Chair for the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM)’s Women in AI Community, I had the honour of contributing to the First Strategic Annual Roadmap for Women@Work (W@W). We presented the initiative at the roundtable during the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024. Vision for the Women Leaders in AI Committee To create a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem where women in AI can collaborate, innovate, mentor, and lead transformative change across technology and society. This forum is designed to empower women to help each other unlock their full potential. Objectives for the Women Leaders in AI Committee Empower Women in AI - Providing access to mentorship, skill development programs, and leadership opportunities. Foster Innovation and Collaboration - to drive innovative projects addressing societal and industry challenges, with a focus on the local needs of Karnataka. Promote Diversity and Inclusion - Advocate for equitable representation of women in AI across academia, industry, and government, ensuring a more inclusive digital economy. Build Awareness and Inspire Future Generations - Increase AI literacy among young girls through targeted outreach programs, enabling them to pursue careers in AI and technology. Influence Policy and Drive Systemic Change - Provide actionable recommendations to the government and industry for creating a supportive ecosystem for women in AI, including policies that address gender disparities and promote inclusive growth. How? Establishing a vibrant ecosystem for women in artificial intelligence (AI) is crucial for fostering innovation, diversity, and inclusivity within the field. Looking at establishing the ecosystem and driving mentorship, creating community impact and inspiring future generations, driving collaboration, innovation, and recognition and creating policy impact. To achieve this, we will need to focus on building collaborative networks, driving multi-stakeholder projects,  training and skilling, and recognising and celebrating women achievers and difference makers. Under the exceptional leadership of visionaries like Min Priyank M Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT-BT and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary ITBT for her mentorship and encouragement, superbly supported by Ms. Ruchi Bindal, Deputy Secretary @ITBTGoK Department, this forum is poised to successfully achieve its ambitious goals. Special thanks to Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta CEO KDEM for his visionary leadership in driving efforts towards a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem. On Day 3 at #BTS2024 Trends Stage, Moderator Ruchi Bindal, IAS, Deputy Secretary, Dept. of E, IT & Bt, Govt. of Karnataka, along with panelists Dr. Rathan Kelkar, IAS, Dept. of Electronics & IT, Govt. of Kerala, and Sreekant Lanka, Chief Strategy Officer, E&C Ministry, Govt. of Telangana, explored the topic of “Startups Clusters of Tomorrow”. They discussed the growing role of government in supporting startups, especially emphasizing the encouragement and empowerment of women entrepreneurs across India. The panel highlighted the diverse schemes available in different states, offering unique opportunities for startups to thrive. They also discussed how the government is becoming an active marketplace for startups, providing a wealth of resources and avenues for growth.
