@tokunbo_wahab There used to be a government team called drain ducks in Lagos. Just before the rains start they go all over desilt canals, pack debris out of gutters and evacuate the waste. It would be nice if you could reintroduce them as part of your interventions.

Following the inspection of communities impacted by the excessive rainfall recorded over the past few days in Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas, the Lagos State Government has deployed a swamp buggy to the Ogombo canal to commence the clearing and desilting of the drainage channel. The intervention is aimed at widening and deepening the canal to improve the free flow of stormwater, enhance drainage capacity, and accelerate the recession of floodwaters in the affected communities. #CleanerLagos

i saw a mouse with an X-shaped battery compartment. first thought: this is stupid - who designed it? 5 seconds later: oh. 10 seconds later: OHHH! the X slot fits an AA or an AAA battery - whichever you've got lying around. the part most people miss is that the shape also makes it physically impossible to load both at once. there is no warning label, no instructions and no way to screw it up. the geometry does the thinking for you. japanese has a word for this. poka-yoke = "mistake-proofing." the product refuses your stupidity before you can offer it. i wish more things worked like this.

In church a couple sat in front of me, very fine couple. A teacher from children session brought their daughter in that she was crying. This fine baby came in and stopped crying when she saw daddy. Each time the mum touched the dad to tell him something the child will remove her hand🤣🤣🤣 in my head I am like you never grow you are forming territory 😩😩

I stopped eating beans because I was told they mixed it with sniper to preserve it. I stopped eating Fufu because i was told they mixed it with detergent to maximise profit. Now it seems I will stop eating bread because I hear they're adding preservatives to make it last for months. Which one is next? Rice or Yam? God help us!

Our last born called me sometime ago to say that his name was on the list of those going for NYSC.. I said my congratulations, happy that he will soon become a government pikin earning minimum wage. The next thing he said made me hiss so loudly that my colleague at work asked me what's wrong.. "Bros they said my jamb registration number has been used by someone else" "How is that possible?" I asked. "I don't know." He replied. Obviously frustrated with the whole thing. I dropped the call and went to the only place I was sure I could get the information I need. NAIRALAND. I looked for the NYSC thread for corpers and started to read through over 50 pages of information.. People complained about the same issue in the past and they wrote about how they resolved it. I called my brother back and told him to go to jamb office in owerri to complain. He simply told me the student affairs officer suggested the same thing. He went to jamb office, made some payments and the issue was sorted out. He went back to the student affairs officer with some information from jamb and that was it. Dude was in camp weeks ago.. This morning I learnt of someone who missed camping last month because of the same issue. He had a nairaland account but wasn't aware that he could have gotten the information there. They simply told him to wait for the next batch and he went home to sleep. Today is Monday.. I just want to remind you how valuable NAIRALAND is if you are a job seeker, looking for how to apply for a study visa, following up on current recruitment, infact anything. Just Google the information you need and add nairaland.. Boom you will see information that will help you sort whatever problem you are having. Please we also have people fraudulent intentions on nairaland. So be careful too. Have a great week!

My boss, who had been very mean to me, was recently sacked and is now threatening to report me to her pastor. I work as a data analyst in a company that offers telemedicine services under the HR team, and from the start, my immediate supervisor treated me harshly. She would often delegate a large proportion of her own work to me, and even when I delivered well which was quite often she would take all the credit. We work five days a week, yet she only showed up about two times each week. Because of her position, no one could question it. Recently, management decided to lay off staff who weren’t meeting expectations, and unfortunately, she was among those affected. She called me that night, asking whether I had been sacked, to which I told her I hadn’t. After that, she questioned why I wasn’t sacked like she was, claiming she taught me everything I know. She then accused me of doing something to have her laid off, went on to rain all sorts of curses on me, called me a witch, and threatened to report me to her pastor. why do some people especially in Africa b tend to spiritualize situations that can clearly be explained by personal actions and accountability?

FLASH🚨: Governor Dapo Abiodun @DapoAbiodunCON has ordered the relocation of the illegal motor park and roadside traders at the Sango Tollgate on the Ogun–Lagos border after repeated fatal accidents. Interstate buses and street traders that have been occupying the illegal spot for over 25 years will be moved to organised locations, while barricades will be put in place to block any return. The decision followed an inspection by Environment Commissioner Ola Oresanya @dejioresanya with officials of the ministry, OGWAMA, and Ado-Odo/Ota LGA. Authorities say the move will curb accidents, end illegal trading around the tollgate, and restore order, with a full environmental cleanup also planned. Enforcement begins in days.
