This call was disgraceful & embarrassing. First ever womens NCAA championship, an opportunity to showcase the sport on the biggest stage to date, & officials are calling “brutality” for normal wrestling positions. Shufeldt, NCC, & NCAA Women’s Wrestling as a whole deserves better

Last weekend of the regular season, and Jaxon Joy arguably has one of the very best résumés of any NCAA wrestler when you view his match count, bonus rate, and quality of competition. •22-0 with 80% bonus •CKLV champ and MOW •Dominated a LOADED bracket that had 6 top 10 and 12 top 20 guys •9-0 vs ranked •4-0 vs top 10 He steps on the mat vs. his opponent, who also has one hell of a résumé at 20-2, with whom he had split the series. Joy suffers his first loss of the year in sudden victory. For his efforts this season—wrestling at CKLV, NDI, this dual, and not missing a match—he moves behind a guy with 50% fewer matches, over 4x fewer ranked wins, who has not faced a ranked opponent since Dec. 7, and the lone one before that on Nov. 2?! You want to put Koy in front of Joy? Cool. Yes, Joy is 2-0 vs. Koy’s two losses, but H2H should matter. No real argument there. But both of these guys deserve to be ahead of Tyus at this point. We were told at nauseam last week that despite having been bonused twice, (20-2) Antrell Taylor was to be ranked in front of an undefeated Meyer (14-0) simply due to match volume (8-match difference). Why does this logic not fit in this case where the match spread is also 8? Joy 22-1  Antrell 20-2 Koy 20-2 Tyus 15-0  Meyer 14-0 In addition, lets not rank the 2-0 vs top 10 guy over the 9–1 top 10 guy especially when he owns the same 2 wins and wrestled ranked guys weekly rather vs having 3-4 months be the last time. Between this along with when Watters kept his #1 with his no show vs #2 Robideau, it is almost as it we are asking for guys to sit in duals 😆.
