Do chimney swifts have feet? = a popular Google question. (Yes.) Please witness the small, mighty, anisodactyl feet of chimney swift fledglings, who cling to the wall beside their nest before they are ready to fly. Thanks to our 3 assistants for demonstrating. 🎥: @tristanahigg

50% of the species ID'd as endangered or threatened by the @NYSDEC need wetlands. The Pied-billed Grebe depends on wetlands for habitat and protecting wetlands is essential to their future survival. We need to save our wetlands as part of the #NYSBudget. #WhyWetlands

Save NYS Wetlands
Save NYS Wetlands@savenywetlands·
Wetlands have an enormous capacity to store floodwater. 1 acre of #wetland can store 1 million gallons of water - making them a critical tool for reducing flooding. The Legislature needs to act now to protect our wetlands & the communities that depend on them. #ActforWetlands

I've been looking at wetland maps a lot this year & one of the sad things I've found are "ghosts". These are wetlands that were paved over but the maps haven't been updated yet - leaving behind a marker of where a wetland once was. This was a 9 acre wetland in Rensselaer, NY. 1/6

Tell your state legislators that we need to protect freshwater wetlands NOW! This critical habitat is disappearing fast and we need to act quickly to protect our wetlands for birds and people. Take action with @AudubonNY: act.audubon.org/a/nys-wetlands

Send a message to NY lawmakers urging them to pass the Birds and Bees Protection Act, critical legislation that would safeguard pollinators, waterways, people, & the future of our food supply by banning unnecessary and harmful neonic uses. via @NRDC_AF on.nrdc.org/3CAeTj7
