Tradition...for those that ansered that requires acceptance and "belief" in oder to pass on tradition to the next generation. Belief....requires being a practicing Catholic. 18%.....is hardly that. Churches are empty. So again for you hatred based people that have a hard time structuring a cogent thought, or response.....why have Spaniards left the church in droves, yet all the towns still honor a patron saint, participate in religious acts without ever stepping foot in a Church. If you dont participate in the eucharist...you dont believe.

Spain, and I can say this because I have a home there in Navarre......they love their time off from work. They don't work much. Religious holidays are in every segment of their society, but as a Catholic, a practical Catholic, the churches there are empty. Rarely do you see anyone less than 65.....so different from my Cathedral in Ft Worth TX. So what does one make of this pomp and circumstance? 1) Franco ruined religion for the majority of society. 2) 85% of the countries citizens are NOT practical Catholics...they don't practice 3) But religion gives them festivals, holidays, and time off.....so the carry on tradition.

I've traveled nearly every square inch for 40yrs. Don't profess what you dont know or understand about someone, but answer this question if you are so smart.....where did all the Catholics go? Why arent they in church? Why don't Spaniards practice religion? Spain is full of wonderful people, but there's a reason its lower in productivity per capita than most of the industrialized West. Its ok....except that socialism and low birth rate will eventually choke the light out of it. Economics isnt its strenght. Its ok....

I don't drink, and I'm far from a red neck, but people like you that assume without knowing (based on hatred and scant information) have the IQ of a kumquat - and I speak with my family daily by Whatsapp in Spain.... Catalonia and Navarre. I think I understand. Tradition when you don't believe.....is no longer tradition. But God love the time off. Such a zip for brains....
