Some more pictures of mempool I took yesterday. Scam is happening every single day in plain sight but the majority of the bitcoin community (including some popular influencers) have been busy in rationalizing this scam. Recently one of the core devs also tried to rationalize this spam in the @BitcoinSeoulCon conference. I am still waiting to hear about any REAL risks with reducing blocksize. There is no reason to keep the blocksize 4 MB anymore. Instead bitcoiners should actively pursue the blocksize reduction option (aka 300 kb blocksize limit). And I hope more and more plebs run @BitcoinKnots instead of #bitcoin core as core devs have already been compromised. Moreover, it will also help disincentivize the spammers to spam the blockchain with garbage data. #Bitcoin is the last chance to save humanity from slavery. Let's not fuck this up by allowing garbage data into the #bitcoin blockchain.

These are some of the recent pictures of the mempool. Probably nothing (for the bitcoiners who are neutral on the spam issue or whoever is supporting SCAM in the name of valid transactions). It's very annoying to see a lot of influencers in the #bitcoin community who either chose to stay neutral because they are friends with someone who is scamming people with Shitcoins on Bitcoin or chose to support SCAM in the name of valid transactions because they were or they have been part of selling jpegs to scam people. If bitcoiners would have shown the same resistance to spam as they have shown resistance to OFAC compliant transactions, things would have been way different. We would have way less spam and shitcoin magazine would have been bankrupted by now. My fellow bitcoiners, don't follow people, follow motive(s) and idea(s) of the people so, we don't get into the same mess again in the future. Last but not least, if you are concerned with the health of the #bitcoin network, please run @BitcoinKnots on your node instead of #bitcoin core and if you are miner, point your hash towards @ocean_mining for mining almost spam free blocks.

I was in attendance for this launch event. In fact, I was right up front as Gateway was Microsoft's largest customer in this era and we'd worked hard with them on this launch. I know it looks awkward and cringeworthy on video, but I want everyone to know that watching it in person was much, much worse. I am permanently scarred.

I remember the last Oct-Nov timeframe when almost all of the #bitcoin community was in the strong belief that "you can't do anything about spam". It would be nice to see this belief getting attacked everyday and as you can see REAL bitcoiners are gradually moving to @BitcoinKnots from the #bitcoin core. It's still a small change but it's still significant compared to what we were at the end of last year. We will likely see hyper knotization (along with hyper bitcoinization) in coming months as more and more bitcoiners realize that most of the blocks are almost completely filled with SPAM (sorry SCAM). In case, someone tells you that filters don't work then @MarathonDH wouldn't have launched its out of band service like Slipstream which is very dangerous for #bitcoin network in the long run. We as a #bitcoin community are slowly (but surely) moving in the right direction and if you are one of those REAL Bitcoiners then I would strongly suggest running @BitcoinKnots instead of #bitcoin core to disincentivize scammers and REDUCE (not FIX) the spam on the #bitcoin network. If you are a miner then don't forget to point your hash to @ocean_mining since they are the only mining pool who don't intend to include spam (especially inscriptions) in their block.

😂😂😂 So basically, the current UTXO set “chainstate” living in our nodes has a size of 12gb/182 million UTXOs, 77% of them have a value below 100,000 sats (dust at around 900 sats/vb), at least 50% (1500 sats and below) of the UTXOs can’t be spent now because they don’t have enough balance to cover the fees (by themselves). The draw backs of such large UTXO set are many, mainly delays in IBD, stressing our nodes because someone wants to spam the network and in the near future will render some low end nodes useless I spent the last 36 hours just trying to create these charts, i processed more than 100gb of data until i got the scripts right, so yah 77% of the UTXOs are useless and are a waste of resources

OCEAN: Reconnecting miners with #Bitcoin Once upon a time, and not so long ago, miners had a much different and more direct relationship with Bitcoin than what they experience today. Miners would run nodes, build local mempools, source transactions, and create block templates. Then they would point their hash power to their own unique template and race against every other miner in the world to find the winning nonce. There was a certain satisfaction for miners knowing they were sovereign participants in Bitcoin, they had a say in what happened on the blockchain, and every once in a while their little mining machine would actually find a block. In other words, every miner no matter their size, got to cast their vote. All that’s been lost in the age of modern FPPS pools where pools have inserted themselves like a buffer between Bitcoin and it’s miners, paying miners like contractors for hire, and settling up with Bitcoin after the fact (sometimes keeping more than their fair share of the profits). The tradeoffs are not insignificant. Miners today are only doing a fraction of the mining process that they used to perform: hashing. Our belief at @ocean_mining is that for Bitcoin to be truly censorship resistant we need to give authority back to the miners, enabling miners to decide what goes into the blockchain, not the pools. We are on the trajectory to that end state and it is going to happen very soon. With our “path to decentralization” already underway, miners can mine without permission and receive bitcoins direct from the coinbase. What’s best, it’s completely transparent. Miners can see the work they’re contributing hash power to in realtime, and verify their splits after the fact. They can even see the Bitcoin address associated with the ASIC that found the block, because it’s all on the blockchain. This is a level of transparency that no other pool offers. Just two days after launching OCEAN last November one of our miners found a block (Block # 819242). The winning miner was non other than Bob Burnett @BTC_boomer from Barefoot mining (permission to disclose received). Bob commented to us that in all his mining experience, this was the first time he felt like a real miner, because he knew without a doubt that his ASIC found the block. It’s a subtle thing that produced a powerful reaction, and my suspicion is that this craving for sovereignty is something that’s important to many other miners. To prepare for what we hope to be an inevitable “tidal wave” of interest we’re going to be shipping out “my miner found a block” stickers with each apparel purchase on ocean.xyz/merch. So when your lucky miner finds a block give him or her a pat on the back and reward them with this sticker.

@OKIN_17 @hodlonaut @BitMan_PoW @ShireH0DL I synced mine Jan 2024 on a Pi 4, 8GB RAM, dbcache maxed out. 1-2 days sync until Feb 23, 5-6 more days for the rest (ordinal epoch). Ordinals have been a successful DDoS on lower level hardware and people need to get their heads out of their asses.

26 hours to get to Feb 2023. Another ~55 hours and I'm still not synced. Last year's explosion of UTXOs made IBD a pain in the ass.
